Mason knew Corwin would be around here somewhere, he could smell Kiley's brother on her and the scent was fresh and he would have to remember to thank the other man for being there even if it wasn't for him. If Corwin had been here for Kiley that meant the world to Mason as well, especially after hearing her say she had been with the pack, knowing she had spent time with his family, tolerating God only knew what kind of behaviour and treatment. If he found out any of them had been rude or disrespectful towards her in his absence there was going to be hell to pay and he wouldn't even begin to feel sorry about that. Kiley wasn't his mate in the strictest sense of the word but he had chosen to be with her and they needed to accept that. If they couldn't treat her with the respect she deserved then they needed to seriously consider finding another pack to be a part of.
It was probably a good thing Mason didn't know Nicci had spoken with Kiley while he was gone. That was one of the things he dreaded most, any of his siblings, those closest to him in a familial sense, getting to Kiley in any way. It wasn't that he thought they would attack her, at least not with anything other than words, but he knew what they were like. They were Normandins after all, they all had the same traits. Hearing her say that he was stuck with her made him smile, openly and honestly, clearly pleased to hear her say that. Kiley had to know that went both ways but as he kissed her he made sure to wrap his arms around her for good measure, a physical reassurance of words he couldn't give voice to along with everything else he was feeling and trying to communicate to her. "Deal," he said to her, and then his eyes narrowed a little. "How long was it?" Mason almost glanced back at the school but that would have meant taking his eyes off her and he wasn't willing to do that just yet. "How long were we all in there?"
