It would surprise Mason to no end to learn that Nicci had been the one to shelter Kiley in his absence. She had always been one of the loudest in her disapproval of Mason and his relationship with the redhead so the idea that she could have watched out for her while he was trapped inside the school? It would confuse the hell out of him, perhaps even enough that his sister would be able to pick up on it. He was probably going to have to thank her for it as well and that wasn't something that happened between the Normandin siblings all that often, at least not Mason and any one of the others. Since he had taken control of the pack things had been strained to say the least and he couldn't see that changing any time soon.
When Kiley told him what date it was he knew his surprise showed on his face then, his head turning enough so that he could look back at the school. Nine days? It couldn't be. But he didn't accuse her of being wrong because he trusted her, he always had, and if she said nine days then it had to have been that long but at the same time Mason was struggling to believe it. Shaking his head he said, "I didn't feel the moon." His gaze was back on her now, his brow furrowed in a kind of confused, concerned frown. In all his years since his first shift he had never gone a month without a transformation. What did this mean? What would not changing mean for him and the other weres who had been trapped inside the school? "There were no other weres around where I ended up. The others were different kinds of supernatural." Not even his brothers had been anywhere nearby. "I don't understand how that could have happened. It didn't feel that long."
