Salazar Slytherin wasn't the only person to leave his secrets embedded in the very structure of Hogwarts itself.

But he was one of the most determined. And after another of his dangerous secrets was used against muggleborn with devastating effect, public opinion turned against Slytherin -- not just the man, but the Hogwarts house.

Three years and a lot of negotiating later, the four new houses of Hogwarts are about to be introduced for the optional summer term of 2021. But Hogwarts isn't just a mundane building that doesn't care what happens within it. And Salazar Slytherin wasn't the only person to leave his secrets embedded in the very structure of Hogwarts itself.

From the quarrels of the Founders to the enhancements of the Victorian Age to the magic added after the most recent Battle of Hogwarts, Hogwarts embodies the magic of the ages, secret lore and forgotten history. And what the reformers didn't realize in their zeal is that a great deal of that magic ties into the four traditional Hogwarts houses.

And what happens to Hogwarts when those four houses are replaced?

The City of Notions is an original character, supernatural, mystery game set in futuristic Boston and focusing on a group of evolved humans working in and around the Boston Police Department and Crime Lab. When a series of serial killings leaves three women dead in a rather... Shakespearean manner, the detectives of the BPD struggle to piece together clues meticulously left at each crime scene. Little do they know that the killings are much, much more than random violence: someone is systematically killing off the city’s powered humans -- someone with a plan.

The year is 2023, and a lot has changed at Hogwarts since Harry Potter's days there. Peace has come to the wizarding world, and lives and families have been rebuilt. In fact, everything seems to be growing and the population is flourishing. And now, after the wizarding world's own baby boom in the early to mid 2000s, Hogwarts has had to meet a greater demand for even more young witches and wizards who need their magical education. And although it was thought to be nearly impossible, the student body seemed to outgrow the campus. So a decision was made, to separate Hogwarts into two campuses---Hogwarts School for Young Men and Hogwarts School for Young Women...

We've remodeled and changed a few things. No longer joined up with [info]durms, we're taking off again at the end of the '22/'23 school year for the boys attending Hogwarts School for Young Men. Now that the exchange program with Durms is over, and quidditch finals determined Gryffindor the winners, the boy are just in time for graduation, summer break which includes a summer quidditch camp at Hogwarts and lots of events to keep them all busy. It's Hogwarts as you know it [with the same houses, classes, clubs, and quidditch rivalries] only with a lot more testosterone and slashiness.

It's 2011 in the New New York City- parallel in every way to its namesake, save for the fact that fictional characters are as alive as any of us and roam the streets undetected. Some of these Fictionals have taken it upon themselves to fight back against the crime and corruption that comes hand in hand with New York; still others see no reason to fight the inevitable; the less moral go as far as to join in the fray. Who will you be and what will you stand for?

Maskerade is a panfandom essences game looking for players who like plot without player-drama. We opened on May 12th and we’d love if you joined us!
