It is August 20, 1998. The dark lord has been destroyed by Harry Potter and the wizarding world rejoiced. The end of the war brought change to the wizarding world, mostly for the better. People, especially muggle borns, no longer live in fear. The ministry has been thoroughly cleaned and is up and running, making themselves ready for elections in the spring.
The death eaters have been rounded up and some sent to prison but others who claimed to be Imperiused or coerced into service have been released with a pardon and a show of goodwill towards all men. Rodolphus Lestrange at the loss of his wife, claimed the imperius curse and is now working to serve the ministry to prove what he can do for society. He stepped into the political arena speaking for the unity of the wizarding world and has become quite popular with his show of intellect and concern for its well-being. Things are not always as they seem. Now that he has won the title of Minister of Magic, changes are coming.
After the final battle of Hogwarts, many parents complained to the Ministry Department of Education. Their children did not graduate, nor did they complete exams or get a proper education. There was talk of boycotting the school, forcing it to close. The ministry, and new headmistress, Minerva McGonagal, came up with a plan. They would offer an 8th year to those who should have finished to see that they could get a proper year of schooling and complete everything they needed to. They would have extra liberties as they would be of age as well. Most parents responded favorably and have agreed to send their children to finish the year properly. For those who could not attend, it is also their chance to make up for what they had lost, welcomed back with open arms and an apology from the school and the ministry.
Everything seems to be going well, but good and evil do go hand in hand and there are forces at work both at Hogwarts and in the Ministry as the dark side tries to reclaim power over the wizarding world. It is often difficult to see who is on what side, but the dark lord's fellowship is alive and well, building up enough momentum until they can rise again.

| PROLOGUE |
You wake up one morning with a headache, you wonder if you're hung-over but you didn't drink anything last night so that can't be it and after taking a painkiller and heading to work you forget all about it. A few days later you think you back to your childhood and there's a memory that doesn't fit, it doesn't make sense and you try not to think about it because it sets you and edge and makes you feel uncomfortable. It doesn't stop. Maybe weeks go by, or maybe it's months, and someone turns up on your doorstep. Maybe they look official, or they're wearing jeans and a T-Shirt, but they introduce themselves and tell you that they're from something called 'The Agency', they sit you down and if you're lucky they'll make you a cup of tea or pour you a drink before explaining it all to you. The memories are real, but they're someone else's, someone you always thought of as fictional. You're what they call a reincarnate, someone who's been reincarnated from this fictional person, brought into this world with magic that no one yet understands. They talk about a war that's being fought between two sides of reincarnates, the good and the bad. You're not told what side to pick or that you need to, but you know that a day will come when you and the person you were and are possibly becoming will need to choose. |

It would only take one more attack to push them over the edge. Axis City is a bustling metropolis, populated by all kinds of people. Even those who can fly. Untested technology and scientific misadventure has gifted people with powers beyond their wildest imagination, and the city is in the grips of a crime wave unlike any other it has ever known. The police battle desperately with criminals they can’t contain and Super Heroes are mistrusted and feared for the damage they cause. Mayor Harlan Mendyk faces an unpalatable decision- to pass legislation to register all those with powers or allow them to keep their secret identities and risk being hounded out of office. City Hall splintered; Police Chief Simone Weaver thinks that the Supers can be used in the fight for Justice, DA Dylan Stone thinks they are vigilantes. Axis City is a city divided. The only person benefiting is corrupt business man Alexander Moretti. His influence spans every strata of Axis society and as the final debate nears he plans to be sitting on the top of the pile. |
