WHO Zach and Maddie
WHAT Sibling bonding.
WHERE Cellblock A.
WHEN October 23rd, 2019; Afternoon.
RATING Medium, maybe.
The infirmary had been quiet lately. A fact that was both a blessing and a curse in Zach’s mind; A blessing in that he didn’t have to fix anyone up, which was always a good day. But also a curse in that it meant he really didn’t have a whole hell of a lot to do lately, which meant he did more thinking than he liked to do, which lead to more drinking than was probably healthy. He wasn’t proud of that last part, didn’t recommend drowning your thoughts in booze, but he had a shitty way of coping with things and he knew it. Today was one of the slow days in the infirmary and with nothing to do really, Zach had spent a large portion of his shift sprawled out on one of the beds nursing the raging hangover he had from the night before. Nobody would have picked up on this though, he was damn good at pulling himself together and acting like everything was a-okay. So anyone who would have come in that day would have just assumed he was relaxing in between checking on the few patients they did have. When one of the other medics had asked him what he was doing he had just flashed his most charming smile and told her he was counting the cracks in the ceiling. She’d narrowed her eyes at him and muttered something that had sounded very much like ‘smartass’ before continuing onto whatever task she had been intending to do before stopping next to his bed. When his shift had ended for the day Zach knew he wasn’t in the right frame of mind to go back to his cell, but the Four Horsemen also wasn’t an option, not after last night. So he was wandering through the buildings under the guise of checking in on past patients, making sure they were doing all right. He was just stepping back out into the hall after checking in on one of the looters, Jake – the guy had gotten a nasty cut on his last trip into Ossining – when he spotted a familiar head of blue hair down the hall a ways. Calling out wasn't really his style, no, he was more the sneak up and startle you kind of person. So as quietly as he could manage Zach followed Maddie down the hall for about ten yards, a plan forming in his mind - one which he knew would likely get him slapped - but that wasn't going to detour him. With a smirk tugging up the corners of his mouth, Zach had a silent count down of one, two, three before he put his plan into action. "Hey Munchkin," In one quick movement Zach caught Maddie around the waist. Normally the next action would have been to toss her over his shoulder like he used to do when she had been younger, but he wasn't going to push his luck today. "What kind of trouble am I going to have to bail you out of today?" |
