"Nowhere, you'd probably make it a day and come back out of boredom." He had never known Maddie to enjoy being on her own for very long. "Great, so if you're pestering people all winter that means I'll be apologizing all winter, huh?" Not that he spent all of his time going around fixing Maddie's messes, but Zach did have a tendency to try and put out fires before they became full blown issues. Or at least that's what he had done before he stopped paying attention to anything for awhile, but that was going to change now, he was going to be present again.
If it had been anyone else's beating on the topic like a dead horse, Zach probably would have told them that he had had enough. But it was Maddie and he knew he deserved it being brought up as often as she felt like it. He had been a downright shitty brother, and in this day and age you really did need to cherish and pay attention to whatever family you had left. Zach laughed slightly at Maddie's horrified expression. "Okay, okay. I won't say I word to Marchand about the arcade games."
"Now, would I go and deprive you of fun?" Zach knew exactly what Maddie's answer was going to be, even if it wasn't really true. "In your case they always mean the same thing," he replied with a faint smirk.
"Yeah, I know we did." She had gone missing though and Zach tried not to think about that all too often. "I'm sure there is, but really I don't think it'd be fair to get her drunk and inflict that guy on her." He would never admit that the image was an amusing one. "I think it's best to just continue to let him become well acquainted with his hand."
A cocky smirk pulled up the corners of his mouth. "Mads, me alone in that place runs circles around the rest of 'em." They were passable medics, but most of them hadn't seen the kind of injuries they were dealing with, and at least one of them hadn't even had any hands on training yet. "Put Charlie in there with me and we'll be running the whole show, no doubt." Half the time he already felt like he ran the infirmary, at least lately with the sheer fact he didn't have a clue where Rory or Wren were or what they were doing.
Zach laughed. "Guess I can deal with that, just so long as you don't like smother me in my sleep." He highly doubted his baby sister had a murderous side to her, so he felt alright joking in this way. Plus, if a notebook was the only weapon she turned on him, well, he really wasn't all that scared. Grinning mischievously, Zach met Maddie's gaze. "Have you ever known me to bluff, Mads?"
Maddie's smile took him off-guard for a moment. Zach wasn't sure the last time he had seen his baby sister smile at him like that, had to be sometime before he turned into absentee-brother on her. "Great, I'm all yours for as long as you're wandering around doing this. Splitting up does seem like it might not have been the best plan, but I'm not arguing, it means I get to spend some quality time with you, Munchkin." He had to laugh at the way she rambled, he'd missed that lately. "Don't remind me. I spend half my time wondering if I should assign a 24/7 guard for you and Charlie."
