Green Apples (tag: Bragi)
(Note: After Bragi and Idun are married, but shortly before Sigyn and Loki wed.)
Again?
Again.
He was gone again.
It was enough to make Sigyn want to stomp her foot like a child, but she wasn't a child. And she didn't generally give into petulance like that. But she'd gone to the trouble of making oatcakes with cloudberries in them, because he said he loved cloudberries. So she'd tromped out to a bog, getting her dress wet, not to mention her feet, and picked the stupid things; then she'd come home to mix up the batter and fry the cakes on the griddle, which at least warmed her toes up after the cold marsh waters, and for what? He hadn't shown up.
Sigyn didn't expect Loki to hang around like some lovesick swain. It wasn't really his style. And he didn't like sitting still, she knew that too. He ran off with Thor and Odin often enough that she had a good idea that their future together was going to involve a lot of free time on her part. And that was fine. But she knew he was back from one of his adventures. She'd seen him. And he came to see her when he got back, which is why she'd been strolling through bogs for fun this morning. So if he wasn't here with her, then where was he?
Sigyn pursed her lips and considered the possibilities. He could still be hanging out with Thor, replaying their latest exploits. He could be off regaling Odin with the same stories, filling him in on what he'd missed. He could be... She stopped, her eyes narrowing slightly. No. She knew where he was.
He was with her.
He went to see her almost as much as he came to see Sigyn. And that just wasn't right. She was married. And Sigyn didn't see why she should have to put up with being disrespected like that. He didn't even bother to hide his visits to her, everybody probably already knew what Sigyn had just figured out: he was over there again.
Well if she thought Sigyn was going to let her steal Loki, she had another thing coming! She was already married, the best she could offer Loki was a fling, and Sigyn could give him so much more! Which she could prove, if he showed up for the oatcakes she'd made just for him. Well, fine then. If he wasn't coming to the oatcakes, the oatcakes were going to Loki.
A few of them may have gotten mildly squished in the rather angry packing process, but within a few minutes, Sigyn had them wrapped in a towel and nestled in a basket. Then she was out the door and on her way, unaware that as she walked she was sort of stomping, her temper coming through in her movements. At this speed, it wouldn't take her very long at all to reach that blasted orchard!
