I'm here and active (obviously/obnoxiously, ha), but I have two characters that I'm struggling with. I don't feel like a hiatus is appropriate since I'm active with everyone else on my roster, but these two feel... adrift, I suppose, without their partners active in game.

I know I can just post something random for either of them, but I figured I'd at least try this, here, first. To see if I can drum up some plot outside of their relationships.

After fully avoiding the show for fifteen years, I've recently fallen in love with Jo and Alex from Grey's Anatomy. It's entirely Terri's fault. But with the recent news that Alex's actor is leaving the show, we're (obviously) coming to DH to, yanno, mend our broken hearts.

So, this is GIDEON FISCHER, who is/will be dreaming of Alex Karev! He's going to be one of the oldest folk around, which I'm sort of excited for, since I haven't had a lot of interactions with that crowd yet. He's 38, originally from Baltimore, MD, and an Aurelius grad of 1998.

After Aurelius he moved to Boston for med school and then to Philly for his residency. He took a brief sabbatical while his mom was sick (and eventually passed), then came back to Dunhaven to work at Dunhaven General in late 2015.

If the journal name wasn't obvious, he's a pediatrician! So, blizzard babies, he'll be ready for y'all. ;)

Most of his connections to the town are likely going to come from his engagement to the youngest Marshall daughter, Embry. She's ten years younger than him (oops?), but they've been living together since 2016 and engaged since 2018. They're getting married this April!

The Fischer family is a new one to town, and I've left things fairly open in his family history if anyone wants to bring in siblings at some point!

Heya, friends! Mostly random OOC note, but I just finished up my 9th annual rpwrimo. I've never done NaNo, but I like spreadsheets and statistics a challenge, so I've monitored my RP word count every November. Since RP is collaborative, the goal is 30K. Thanks to y'all, I made the mark with a total of 36,258 written this November, 58% of which was written right here in Dunhaven.

So if we've written something together this last month, THANK YOU! 😻 I'm coming up on my one year mark with this game, and I still feel really lucky to be here and be allowed to play in this amazing sandbox.

New character! This is LAZ DELACROIX, soon to be visitor to town and future dreamer of Lily Evans Potter.

29 years old. Legal analyst. (Got his law degree but never sat for the bar exam. Whoops.) Lives in London, England. Son of parents who emigrated from France and Italy. (Speaks all three languages fluently.) Related to the Aldermans and Lyons through the respective French and Italian sides of his family, so he has cousins in town here. Has visited Dunhaven before, but not for several years. Will be coming in to town next week (ish/tbd) for the Lyon wedding.

In a conversation tonight, we've decided that there's a military veteran's support group in Dunhaven. It's been in existence for a while, and it functions more or less like any other [Thing]-Anonymous group, where nothing leaves that safe space. The group meets in a private room at the Dunhaven Regional Airport on the same mornings as the monthly pancake breakfasts. They're not specifically tied together- people can go to the pancake breakfasts and not the support meeting, and vice-versa. But, because we're super witty folks, the meetings are colloquially (and affectionately) called "Pancakes & PTSD."

At yesterday's meeting, the idea was brought up to extend an invitation to those who might have had military service or other trauma-causing things in their dream lives, not specifically their real lives. Dahlia is going to post about this IC'ly here in a minute, but I wanted to get something up OOC to set a baseline! ♥

What? Roller Derby already? 🧐😵😬😧😲

I don't know if anyone new is actually interested in joining the team this year, but since the season will start in February, I figured I'd put up a training schedule for new recruits.

New character! Because what are limits, really. This is SAMUEL CHURCH, youngest of the three Church siblings (elders Hannah and Andrew).

He's 18 (19 in August), Aurelius c/o 2018, and a current student at UofD. (He was (is) the same school year as Andrew due to their birthdates falling within a year of one another.) He's living on campus (Baldwin Hall) mostly because it's easy? And doesn't require him to get a part-time job to afford rent and all those other Adult Things.

He was in orchestra and marching band in high school (percussion), so some not-Aurelius folk from around his year might have known him from that! He's a music major at UofD now, though he's not actively playing any instruments in any formal-type setting. (Next semester he's joining the collegiate a cappella group, though! Because nerds.)

He'll be dreaming about Ron Weasley. Likely soonish, lol.

Second new character in two days? 🤷‍♀️

This is Marlene Wentworth. At 21, she's the younger sister of Foster Wentworth (among other Wentworth Brothers, who are all very much wanted in game hint). Born in Colorado but moved to Dunhaven when she was only five years old, she considers this to be her hometown.

She graduated from Athena in 2016 (holla, Zora Steele!). At school she was a maths whiz and she did several of the field events during track and field season. After HS she went to UofD, but she's lived at home throughout that time.

Last year she was hired on as a Personal Assistant to Elias Salazar, so she's transitioned her active academia to a slower night class pace in favor of, yanno, making money.

She's also openly gay (and has been since high school, more or less), so, lgbt friends would also be great?

Friends, exes, flings, romance~? IDK. All the things.

Also wanted: CANON MATES. She'll eventually be dreaming about Zoe Washburne from Firefly, so basically everyone from that show should be in game. It's also like the best show ever, so if you haven't watched it, go do?

Hello! New character!

This is Dahlia Liang, younger (adopted) sister of Ash Liang. She's a Dunhaven native (at least, yanno, after the whole international adoption thing), and she graduated from Dunhaven High School in 2009 (which puts her with Annie Nikolaev and Rosemary Waters at DHS, plus others in private school of the same year). She played soccer and ran track during high school, if that yields any connections!

Dahlia enlisted in the US Air Force straight out of high school. She enlisted alongside her best friend who will be in game soon Verity McKinnon. They both became pilots in the USAF and served in several different countries, though Dahlia never saw active combat because, yanno, there was a law against it because ladies are delicate flowers or some bullshit. ;)

Unfortunately, Dahlia's youthful dreams of flying took a sharp turn after nearly a decade in the USAF, and she started having repetitive and vivid visions of Sam Wilson (Falcon) losing his partner when the latter was shot out of the sky. Though Dahlia tried to deal with these things, in the end it's what made her resign from the USAF in late 2017.

She wasn't the greatest person to be around, then. But she'd also lost everything she'd worked for and had no real backup plan, either.

Eventually, Dahlia found work as a private pilot with a corporate jet company that's based out of DC. So for all y'all independently wealthy types who don't want to fly commercial, she's your girl. ;) She has also more recently (re-)enlisted with the Virginia Air National Guard, though this is very much a side-gig sort of thing, where they have more local and civilian-focused service, whether that's to do with public safety or disaster relief.

As always, plot for Dahlia (or any of mine) is welcome and ♥!

I stg this really is my last new one for a while. But in my defense, Fralice is like crack to me. 🤷

(Ahem.) This is Lorelei Waters! Younger sister of Nick and Romy, older sister of Tallulah. She's a Dunhaven native, and has been dreaming of Alice Longbottom since she was a little girl. Not knowing what the dreams were at that age, her family generally treated the ideas that came of it as something like Lorelei having an invisible friend. Albeit one with a pretty great imagination.

My headcanon of Alice puts her as a Fortescue, with the famed Florean Fortescue being her grandfather. So while Lorelei was young, especially, she dreamed of Alice's own childhood and lots and lots of ice cream.

Needless to say, Lorelei now owns the town's ice cream parlor, The Dreamery! So she better know just about everyone. ;)

She's dating Foster Wentworth (🔥🔥🔥), is part of the roller derby team, and graduated from Dunhaven HS in 2015. (She ran track and cross-country in high school, and is still an avid runner today.)

New character! This is Xing Li (Zhing Lee), younger brother of recently-introduced Senator Jun Li.

Aurelius c/o 2013. He played water polo, soccer, and lacrosse while at Aurelius, so if you would have been involved in any of those sports between 2009-2013ish, he probably knows you!

Attended the University of Virginia from 2013-2017, and then moved back to Dunhaven thereafter.

He's working as a nurse at Dunhaven General Hospital. His parents still wish he'd become a doctor.

His AU is Will Parry from His Dark Materials, but even though he's gotten a fairly significant portion of Will's memories, he's very tight-lipped about this.

Roommate is Isaiah Erikson!

And here's intro #2! This is Kesi Freeman. His canon which I'm way too excited about is Aaron Burr from Hamilton.

Most important (not by his judgement, but for the note of others) thing about Kesi is that he's Deaf. He lost his hearing at age eleven. He attended residential schools for the Deaf after this point, including Gallaudet in DC, so he's fluent and communicates primarily in ASL. He does still speak and communicate verbally, and he'll read lips when he's out among the hearies. ;) He tries to be pretty laid back about it, all things considered. He's not going to take offense to much.

Kesi is the younger brother of Asha Freeman, and grew up in a military family. There were formative years spent in Florida, Japan, North Carolina, and Texas. He moved to DC for university in 2009, and then moved to Dunhaven after he graduated in 2014. He's just made the commute into the city to work each day, wanting to keep connected to the thriving Deaf community in DC.

He is the After School Programs Director at a Deaf elementary school in DC. He absolutely adores his job.

His roommate is Bridget Grant. They share a rented house here in Dunhaven, though she's only been living there since last summer. If anyone else wants to have lived with him before, that's open!

He does have a sort of super-casual thing with Lyra Rhinehart. Neither of them are really interested in pursuing an actual relationship at the moment, so this agreement works for him.

He knows about his dreams of Burr, and he's probably told his sister, Lyra, and Bridget for sure. Other friends TBD!
