Hello, friends! I managed to show restraint for just over a month when it came to picking up this character, but I was weak in the end. This is Sora Hondo-Smith, also known as Amilyn Holdo from Star Wars. She is very much pulled from the Leia book, which everyone that has an interest in Star Wars should go read, because it was lovely and painful.
Long story short, Sora was born in California and was very much a surprise. Her bio mother left a week after she was born and her father, Ren, moved back to his hometown of Chicago, which is where they lived until Sora was eleven. It was there that her father met Theo Smith, uncle to Waverly and Malachi Lane, and history was made. Her dads were married a few months after legalization in Virginia back in 2014 and she's had a hyphenated surname since. She and her dads moved to Dunhaven to be closer to Theo's family and she was enrolled in Athena Academy, because Ren got a teaching position. Her family wasn't as affluent as many of the others and she was a bit of an oddball in her need to stand out from the crowd, so she had a rough few years of teenage struggle as she didn't fit in, but eventually she found her niche and she became more confident. In school, she got good grades and was in a number of different clubs and organized peaceful protests for a variety of things.
Since the end of last June, she has been traveling. She started in Japan to meet/visit some of her distant Hondo relatives, but otherwise has gone to a bunch of places in Asia and Europe. She's been documenting her travels through vlogs, which got just enough followers to help her financially. She'll have just returned to Dunhaven when I introduce her IC, with just a couple weeks to spare before spring semester starts at the university.
Anyway, that didn't keep the long story short. If you want to read more about her, you can check her out here! I'd very much like connections of all shapes and sizes for her. She's the sort that could befriend more or less anyone so long as they're willing to put up with her head in the clouds-ness. (Also, if anyone wants to pick up older characters, it'd be cool to have her dads around, just saying... ngl, I picture Ren as this fellow, but that's not necessary.)
PS: If anyone would like to do anything with me before the end of the month to count towards activity, please let me know! I'm looking to churn out some narratives, but I'd be happy to do a quick log instead. :)
