I don't usually post publicly about this dream stuff, but I'm just...curious. How many of you find a large amount of similarities between yourself and your dream self, and how many of you find that you're completely different from the person you dream of?

I can't decide which one is worse. I'm...very similar to my person, even things that happened long before I started dreaming of him seem to have an echo in these dreams. tbh sometimes it kind of reminds me of that movie Us, like we're tethered to one another, and what happens to one happens to the other in at least some capacity. Only, luckily neither world is a dark underground bunker and also I don't think my dream-self is capable of murdering me or vice-versa. Anyway. Sometimes it sucks, but then I was also thinking it probably sucks to dream of someone really different, too, especially if they were like...a bad guy, or something.

Anyway. I guess I'm just kind of wondering what other people experience on this front.

Oh, you're dreaming of someone from Black Panther? Can I ask who?

You sure can! I dream about Shuri.

She is pretty awesome, so I get why you might like some of the similarities.

There are parts of her life that I'm not super pumped about having had to dream about, but I'm pretty sure that if she existed here all on her own, I'd have to hang out with her 24/7.

I guess having some level of shitty stuff happen is a pretty common trend when they all come from fictional worlds...or, you know, maybe fictional worlds, since they can seem pretty real.

That sounds pretty accurate. It's probably good to have some differences, if only because I don't think anyone could handle having to experience two lives that are 100% drama.

Yeah, I definitely have better support systems and people in my life than my dream guy.

That's a pretty great positive! Shuri has some good people in her life obviously, but I'm pretty partial to my people. I know that wishing these dreams on people isn't cool, but if others were to happen to be dreaming about her people, I sure wouldn't hate it. But I'm not complaining about who I do have.

Also hi! I know this was kind of one of those open forum sort of questions, but I don't think we've met and I've only been here like a year and am still meeting folk. I'm Naomi.

It is pretty nice to have people to process it with. I have one friend dreaming of the same people.

Hi! I'm Connor, I've lived here my whole life. It hasn't always been so...dream-filled. What made you want to move to Dunhaven?

Oh, good! Having other people in the world that at least get it is really nice. Just not being alone in dreaming at all is helpful, but that connection and having someone to talk to totally helps.

Medical school for me, grad school for my husband. We were living in Boston and I grew up in Montreal, so the switch from big city living to, you know not was kind of a culture shock. I've embraced it now, though. Dreams aside, there's some real cool stuff in town and it's nice just being a short drive from DC if I need to see a building taller than the hotel. We're closer to my husband's family, too.

Yeah, definitely. Im grateful for it.

Oh, really? That's awesome. Montreal sounds like a cool city. I'm actually at Dunhaven University as well, I'm a fine arts major, though.

Montreal is amazing. The diversity that's drawn kind of speaks for itself. I did go to boarding school in the US for high school and while I was there my family mostly relocated to Toronto for my dad's career, so I don't get to see it much when I do get the chance to go home. Toronto is awesome too, though. You know, speaking of diversity.

Oh wow, really? What kind of fine arts are you into?

Haha, clearly I need to go to Canada. Where did you go to school in the U.S.?

Mostly painting, but I use granite pencil too sometimes, and well, whatever type of medium my professors want me to use.

Everyone should go to Canada. I have a deep fondness for my Canadian roots. I went to Taft School in Connecticut, though. It's where I met my husband, actually. Then I went to Harvard for my undergrad and now I'm here for medical school.

That's really awesome. I struggle with pretty much anything arty, so consider me impressed.

Hah, well, I struggle with pretty much everything else.

I want to argue that point, but I'm also the kid of lawyers with one of them sitting on the Senate in Canada so I guess there's only so much I can actually argue. I feel decidedly more down to earth now in my old age of 22 than I did when I was someone's dependent, for whatever that might be worth.

You only have to master one thing to be successful, right?

In the interest of full disclosure, I'm also pretty fancy in the sense that my mom is the mayor.

I guess that's true, but I need to figure out what to do with it so as to no longer be a dependent myself one day.

Ah, look at us. Being all fancy.

To be fair, I'm only not a dependent because I gave that up willingly at 18 and had to start filing my taxes jointly. #noregrets and all, but hopefully there's no huge rush and you'll get to figure out something that makes you happy.
