Have you ever been in a car crash? Perhaps as a child, when you couldn't even understand what a car was? Or why you were suddenly rolling and covered in glass and listening to your mother scream before a piece of twisted metal cut her throat?

Or maybe as a kitten, shoved into a sack with your brothers and sisters and held under the water until your eyes bulged and there was nothing but water in your lungs?

Or having your home, a place you built with your own two hands, blown out into the water by a hurricane that doesn't give a single damn about the humans living near the coast.

Watching as poachers kill your family for nothing more than the ivory of your family's tusks.

Laying there as your uncle pushes himself into your smaller body and whispers how it's nothing more than you deserve.

Sometimes (if you use your poetry brain) life can be like that, even if nothing like that happens to you. And it breaks you.
