Hug Therapy (tag: Ninkasi)
Lottie wasn't totally sure what she was doing in Chicago, because she wasn't exactly certain that she understood what Kratos had been asking of her. The general gist of it, though, if she got it all, was that he had a friend that needed a friend like her. And even though she was still dealing with some stuff of her own, how could she turn him down? Especially when he preemptively gave her the puppy dog eyes. He knew she was a sucker for that, had been since he was little. It's why the Styxlings always sent Kray to ask her for sweets before dinner when she babysat.
So she'd said yes, and let him set up a meeting, and now here she was going to a bar before it opened for the day to see a Sumerian. Walking into the Waters of Dilmun, Philotes looked around for the woman that her nephew described, and found her behind the bar. She was beautiful, and Lottie could see why she'd caught Kray's eye. Dark hair, dark eyes, caramel skin. Shorter, but still rather curvy. And she had a way of moving that was unconsciously graceful, which meant that she was easy to watch.
But the way Strength had talked, and the feeling that she'd gotten off of him when he did-- waves of affection that were heady enough that Lottie knew that it fell not only in her bailiwick, but even beyond that-- that didn't come from the way somebody looked. It was the way they were. She knew that there was some real depth to this woman if she and Kratos had remained such close friends for so long. She hadn't even nudged that a little bit to make sure it stayed that way, they just were, and Philotes had always been kind of proud of Kratos for that.
Well she was proud of him anyway. She was proud of all her nephews. And nieces and cousins and aunts and uncles and siblings. Lottie loved her family, deeply and dearly, which was why she was here. When family asked for help, then you helped. It was what was done for her, time and again (most recently with Harmonia), so there was no way she wouldn't do it in return. Even if it hadn't been something she'd want to do on her own, which it was.
Crossing the empty bar, Philotes gave the woman a bright smile and a cheery, “Hello, you must be Ninkasi. I'm Philotes, but you can call me Lottie.” And then she hugged the Sumerian with warm enthusiasm.
“You have no idea how long I've wanted to meet you. I mean, not that I've been stalking or anything, but I am Friendship and Affection, and you've been friends with my nephew a really long time, which is an amazing thing to me, and it really touches my heart when people put in the effort to maintain a relationship for so long, it kind of made me teary a bit after the first couple hundred years, you know? And I just have to tell you how much I love your bar, I've been here before, of course, but we just didn't get a chance to meet, mostly because it was Halloween, and that was a wicked fun party until there was all kinds of thunder and lightning and ugh, though I do have to say that wasn't really Thor's fault, not totally, because he's a really sweet guy deep down, but you already know that because I can see you're friends with him too, which is wonderful because I think he needs support, he's got some self-esteem issues, even though they made a movie about him and I know I'm never getting a movie made about me, I mean, I didn't even get temples dedicated to me, and that's when people knew who I was, so that's got to be a bit of an ego boost for him too, though I'm not really here to talk about Thor, or even to talk about Kratos, even though I could happily brag about him for hours, but I'm actually here to talk about you. I mean, to you. I'm here to listen to you talk about you. That's probably more accurate.”
A happy smile followed her introduction, then she asked, “Can I have a beer? Kratos says you make the best ever, and he knows. I'm dying to taste one.”
