And ooh ... jumping when they're in the middle of an asteroid field?! I don't think that in anyone's space universe that they would recommend doing that. It would rip the ship to shreds!! I believe calculations are always made so that they travel around space bodies ... otherwise their gravity would affect things (asteroids do have gravity you know).
