It is my son's birthday on Thursday. In my mind, he should be turning four, but as the island has it's own ideas, it looks like it will be his eighth unless things revert by then.

Well, I think I shall give him some sort of treat in Florida- what would anyone from the time suggest? He's never had a party before, and- he hasn't experienced much that this time has to offer, either.

And of course- anyone that would like to celebrate with us is welcome, especially if you have children.

I am sorry, but-- what its meaning by "might be his seventh birthday"? I mean, surely you know how old your child IS...!

Actually monsieur, he doesn't in fact, know how old his child is! Because I do believe that he's claimed to me before that the child was two going on three - which makes sense to me, given his size: about half of his father's height, as of when I met him, and growing like a bloody little weed, of course...!

Ernest, sweet, I think that you need to rest a little bit more, maybe...?

Wait half a mo...! I mean: honest, dear, I think that you really need to rest, because the whole idea of forgetting whether your son came to you here at aged two or three is just... ridiculous to me, and I'm the one dealing with Pregnancy Brain now....! Urgh, men!

Yes, when I- left home, he was two, nearly three. He was brought to me afterwards, and judging by the look of him, he wasn't much changed. If we went by our own timeline, he would have had his third birthday some months ago. But, as it is, the island brought him here at an earlier month than it had been at home. Therefore, on our timeline, his third birthday would already have passed, and although a full year hasn't passed since then, merely months, I don't know if it is best to age him down to three or up to four. I opted for up, because he hates to be babied. And because he may resent that less when it comes to being 21 etc.

Am I babbling?

A little bit, but it's cute fine anyway's...! I understand you completely - and it IS rather cute! I mean, I think that I understand you completely... which is...sorta scary, given how long we've really been living together, as opposed to how long we've supposed to have lived together, given how old Bumby is now!

Hmm. Not many people tend to understand me so soon. Perhaps this is why we end up together Yes- does it really scare you?

Hmm. No, not really, I suppose; it's just a turn of phrase, one which apparently I overuse I guess.... Sorry dear!

What do you think we should do? If you ask him, his answer is simply "chocolate". I blame you for that.

Indeed, does he really? Ha! Smart kid...! Ha ha! I mean, all I really want to do is lie about and eat chocolate myself-- even IF there's other things I really should be doing - like, say, taking the money from your "Hemingway Impersonations" (HA!) and getting a nursery together for the island...! And of course, exercise, as well...

Yes, you know, I really could sell off genuine manuscripts, but I think they might be rather surprised to find that much of it wasn't typed on that typewriter they babble on about, but on a laptop computer, or scribbled in biro pen. They might question it's authenticity, hmm?

Shit- yes- a nursery? I suppose so. There can't be much time. I don't really know what that involves these days- do you want me to get anything in particular?

[ooc- OH SHIT they are going to be left without a baby but with all this BABY STUFF!]

[info]aphotic_auror

Depends what a Biro pen is, exactly; I mean, if it would be more authentic, I do still have a quill and ink somewhere in mine -- old flat, I suppose, it is now...! Hope no one else has moved into it! Hah!

Anyway's, well... I could use some receiving blankets and a few gowns for the baby to keep warm in, of course, but not much else, just yet - not till we know whether it's a boy or girl, I mean to say! Because really, the clothes are always so dead cute for either gender, and I don't want to buy up anything wrong! Especially given how rare it is that there are babies on this island, in order to make use of the clothes, should I say, buy out a baby store of all their little boy clothes, and then end up with a little girl! I mean, there's something on the plaque on that door about it staying open for a good month, right? I'm sure I'll have given birth by then!

((Ooc: LOL! X-D <3 All the more reason to pressure poor Rhonda into giving birth to a real baby even SOONER, am I rite? X-D <3))

It's not something we had in my time. It's a rather wonderful invention, where the ink is already inside the length of the pen, and it flows out most wonderfully without a need for any ink-dipping or- I'll show you one, sometime.

All right, then I'll see what I find.

A crib, maybe? A pram?

[info]aphotic_auror

Indeed? I think I've seen those, rather... Only I don't think it would be distinguishable from a regular ink-dipping pen...! I mean, I'm certain that Mrs Tonks - Ted's mum, a Muggle, you know? - well... Anyway's, I don't think she uses a quill to write in the journals we kept back home and yet -- her handwriting was indistinguishable from her son's as far as the strokes of the pen....

[...] Now why should I want a crib for the baby? I mean, having to get up with it, when I could just sleep next to it in the bed...! I swear to Merlin, I'm far too lazy to make any use of a bloody cot for any baby of mine...! Heh!

I'll be damned if I know.

From my experience, time sometimes doesn't follow the rules that we expect it to. This island must be on an unstable point or- science was never my strong point.

Is your son used to the water? I think a simple beach party would be fun for him. My daughter and I would like to come to whatever type of party you have.

Yes, that is a rather swell idea! There is much entertainment at the beaches here already. And you'd be most welcome. He's such an isolated little boy, it would be nice for him to meet some children.

Ah, that would be wonderful, as long as it isn't too much trouble. He's been obsessed with the idea of chocolate cake since he had his first taste on the island a few months ago- are you able to do something like that?

Absolutely! What type of chocolate does he like? Milk chocolate, white chocolate, dark chocolate? What's his name? I can put it on the cake.

Is there going to be a theme to the party?

Ooh, could you maybe make it a White-Dark-AND-Milk Chocolate Ganache of some sort? Then again... would that maybe too rich for the kiddo? I mean, I wouldn't want him to get sick on his birthday...!

Anyway's: his name's Jack if you really want to decorate it for us, too! Cheers so very much for doing this for us, for serious...!

I could top a cake with a swirled white, dark and milk chocolate ganache. That wouldn't be too rich, would it? Or have a ganache filling or layer cake with ganache between the layers?

I'd be happy to decorate it! Jack's an easy name to fit on a cake.
