Gwendolyn was annoyed. No, annoyed didn't quite cover just how she was feeling at the moment. One of her good friends went out to dinner with the man she was well, involved with. She was annoyed with Astoria, too, but mostly she was upset with him. After all, he should know better. It was not right at all that he should be having it on with her friends. He claimed to love her, so what exactly was he doing try to romance another woman and call her princess. She never got cute nicknames like that!

Marching up to his front door, Gwendolyn knocked loudly then leaned back a little to cross her arms so that she could glare at him properly when he finally opened the door. Adrian needed to know that he really should not be seeing her friends. The Weasley girl was one thing, and it was gross, but this was so much worse. When the door opened, she gave him her best annoyed look.

"So, how was it? Have fun with your princess?"

When he let her down, Gwendolyn felt feelings wash over her. Something she couldn't quite put a name to, but it was really nice. Unfortunately the feeling didn't last long as Adrian was off across the other side of the room. Frowning she stepped out of her knickers and tucked them in her pocket.

"Not really." She said as she followed him. "Bit hungry." She announced, as she entered the kitchen. "Can I stay?" She asked, leaning against the counter. Okay, so she couldn't quite explain herself either, but she didn't want to go right then.

Well, the steak was ruined, but he had a couple more in the cupboard, under a cooling charm, and thankfully, you can't really burn salad. He took the burned meat and threw it in the bin, then paused as she joined him. He wished he could say no. He wished he could tell her to piss off until she figured out what she wanted, but he couldn't.

"Sure," he said, simply, not looking at her. He grabbed the remaining meat and placed it in the cleaned out pan. "How do you like your steak?"

	Gwendolyn smiled a little, hoping the last few moments would have changed things. Only Adrian seemed quite upset with her. She was worried for a moment that he'd say no to her, only he let her stay and she smiled in relief. "Medium well." Gwen said as she looked towards the cupboards. "Should I set the table?" He stopped, closing his eyes for a moment. What was it that Pansy told him?

"Treat her as you should during those times. Just be that man with no ulterior motive."

Right, he could do this. She was the one he wanted to treat like a Princess, so now he had to prove that he could.

"No, that's okay," he said, turning his head and giving her a smile. "Just relax. Can I get you a drink?"

"No problem," he said, trying to be cheerful without seeming over the top. He checked the flame under the steaks wasn't too hot, then fetched a bottle from the fridge. It was one that he'd noticed she enjoyed in the past. He quick charm and the cork was out, and he fetched a glass for her. "There you are." He went over to check the meat, then finished with the salad. He needed to give her something, to show that he could be more than stroppy toddler, and that he respected her right to decide what she wanted.

"Hey, look. I'm sorry about Stori. If you don't want me to see her, I won't," he said, as he added some dressing and tossed it. "I didn't think you'd mind." He put the salad on the table, then waved his wand to send a couple of plates and some cutlery to set themselves on the table. "You're right. I wouldn't like it if you dated one of my friends."

Gwen smiled at Adrian in thanks as he handed her her glass. "Oh, this is nice." She said, having taken her first sip. It was a familiar taste, though she wasn't really sure what it was.

Stunned at the apology, Gwen said nothing for a moment. She hadn't actually expected him to admit fault. Still, she smiled in appreciation. "Thank you." Gwendolyn said as she took a small sip from her glass. "I'm glad you understand."

One thing had been bothering him for a few days, though. The other night, at Pansy's had been great, but afterwards, he couldn't help but realise that it had happened before. He didn't really have a problem with Gwen seeing Pansy, but the fact that she'd probably slept with Theo more than once did.

"Maybe, in return, you could stop sleeping with my friends," he said, as he turned the meat over in the pan.

	"Who? Theo?" Gwen asked, looking up in surprise. "I thought you'd liked that." Gwen frowned a little. She wasn't really sure she liked that restriction. Not because she desperately wanted to sleep with Theo, he was fun, but she preferred Adrian, but she didn't particularly want to stop sleeping with Pansy. "Didn't you have fun the other night?" "I did, it's just," he trailed off, trying to gather his thoughts. Why was it upsetting to him? Because he wanted to belong to her, the way Theo and Pansy belonged to each other. "It's just, knowing that you might without me there hurts. I don't mind about Pans, so much, just not him." God, he hoped she didn't tell him to fuck off and storm out. He was actually sort of glad they were just talking.

"Yeah, but it's just sex, Ade." Gwen said with a shake of her head, as if it explained everything. She pouted a bit and sipped from her glass. "It's not the same as you and me." She took another sip from her glass and sighed. "Fine, I won't shag him unless you're there, okay? But I'm making no promises on Pansy." She added, running her tongue over her lower lip before putting the glass to her lips and sipping again. She held out the empty glass. "Refill, please?"

"Thank you," he said, feeling a weight off his shoulders. He desperately wanted to know how it was different with them, but he'd promised himself he wasn't going to push her. If it wasn't just sex, then what was it? She said she didn't want more, but acted like she did. It was doing his fucking head in.

Some oil from the meet spat up and hit his still bare chest, causing him to wince. He really should summon another shirt before he got a more serious burn than that, but he saw to her needs first. He grabbed the bottle and walked over. He just had to avoid looking at her, cause it made him crazy when he did.

"Say when," he said, softly, keeping his eyes on the glass.

Watching Adrian wince, Gwendolyn frowned in concern. "You okay?" She asked, though her eyes lingered on his chest a bit longer than they probably should. He was standing close to her again as he poured her glass, and it was all she could do not to reach out and touch him. keeping her eyes on the glass again, she watched him fill it. "That's good." She said, reaching out to touch his arm and stop him.

"It's fine," he said, having to force himself not to glance at her face. If he did, he might be tempted to kiss her and that would be having an ulterior motive. His skin defied him at her touch, goose-fleshing and sending a shiver done his spine. He went back to the pan and turned off the heat.

" Accio shirt ," he said, giving his wand a wave and pulling the shirt on before he took the pan over to the table and plated them up. "Salad?"

He served up some salad on her plate, then some on his own, before pushing it to the side. "Just enjoy it, beautiful," he said, giving him a smile. He picked up his own knife and fork. It was strange having here without fucking or fighting with her. "So, busy week at work?" He'd read her journal, but had chosen not to comment after Pansy had suggested he back off.

Gwendolyn was soon sitting down at the table with her plate. "A bit." Gwendolyn said with a nod as she picked up her fork. "Our director's just been working us very hard lately. It's a new production, so there's loads to do, and it's been keeping me much busier than usual." Gwendolyn explained making sure she'd swallowed before speaking. "What about you? You haven't said much about work."

	He gave her the attention she deserved, but it wasn't an act designed to in her, he wanted to share her life, including her work. "We started training the first week of February, " he said, summoning the wine and topping up her glass, then filling his own glass. He shook his head. It had crossed his mind, to just disappear for a while. Maybe she'd miss him, but the chance that she wouldn't, and would just find somewhere else to go when she had that need he filled in her was too great.

"No, I'm just going to stay here. Too much on for a holiday," he lied. Well, it wasn't exactly a lie. He had promised to help Astoria with Draco, so he'd have that to keep him busy. Plus, just because she'd asked her to not date their friends, didn't mean he couldn't date full stop. There were other fish in the sea, after all.

"Fair enough." Gwendolyn said with a nod, pleased that he wasn't going to leave, even if it was only for a few weeks. "You should consider booking a holiday sometime though. I'm sure a break would be good for you." Gwen said with a smile as she picked up her glass again. Granted, she couldn't really afford one herself, but he could definitely see the benefits of going away for a bit. Then again, she supposed he had to deal with Quidditch seasons.

	She made is so hard for him to remain impassive, when all he could think about was whisking her away to Paris or Rome for a romantic or dirty weekend. "If I had someone in my life that could spoil, I might consider a European break. Maybe Rome, or Paris," he said, making it clear that she was the one he wanted. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Gwendolyn's cheeks coloured, knowing full well what he meant. She wanted desperately to say yes, suggest that he take her, but then stopped herself. She didn't want to hurt Adrian, whatever he may think of her. Jumping at the chance was only going to make matters worse if she couldn't let herself care for him in the way he claimed he did her.

"Those are lovely cities, so I hear." Gwen said with a smile. "Though surely a better option when it's warm out." She paused to take another sip. "Think of it, escape the cold weather with a few days out in the Caribbean out in the warm sun." She sighed softly, then shook her head. "The shows make it so difficult to take a break. When does your next season end?"

He thought of it, alright, but she was still right there, in some scandalously skimpy bikini, sipping some ridiculously overpriced fruity monstrosity.

"June," he said, simply. "Perfect time for some summer get away, if I find the right girl to go with me." Who was he kidding? He'd already found, found her six years ago and had fucked everything up. More and more he was feeling like it was too late to repair the damage. He wasn't normally emotional, but he felt a lump in his throat and gazed down at his meal, no longer feeling hungry. "What do you want, Gwen? Why are you here?"

"I don't know." Gwendolyn said, looking down at her plate a she pushed the food around with her fork. She glanced up briefly and toward Adrian. "I came here to yell at you, to because I was angry with you, Astoria too, but it was easier to yell at you and then..." She shrugged. "I wanted to stay." She pushed her food about a bit more. "Maybe I like your company." Why did he always have to over-examine everything. Couldn't it just be okay to leave things the way they were?
