Accidental Voice Post.
[ There's the sound of game pieces being knocked over and rearranged as well as being pushed across a game board. It's accompanied by the occasional meow. ]

No, no, not like that. Diagonal. And only when the path is unblocked. Yes, yes, that's much better. Bishop to... C5, is it? Capture my pawn. Clever. Hm.

[There is a few more seconds of chuckling before Mycroft manages to compose himself.]

Terribly sorry, Sherlock. Though I must ask. I'm sure you understand.

Were you teaching this particular skill to the kitten or the cat?

Both. I figured what one could learn, the other could as well.

Well then. I suppose there's that.

[There is a brief pause, as though Mycroft is considering something. Then an almost flippant reply that really is meant to be anything but flippant.]

I also suppose it's a far better hobby than my attempts as a child to teach a neighbourhood stray the finer points of rummy.

[ There's a momentary pause and a sound of confusion before Sherlock continued. ]

Rummy would be a far more difficult concept to get across.

Which is quite likely the very reason I never had much success. Of course, at that age, it was one of the few games mummy allowed me to learn as well as one that was easy to provide the necessary pieces.

I suppose I do have the advantage of not having Mummy supervising.

Quite the advantage, I daresay. She was wonderful with making certain I didn't harm the creature through my rigorous training regimen, of course, but her suggestions for how to make the process run more smoothly weren't very helpful, I'm afraid.

She always tries, bless her. She's one of the few things I do miss being stuck here.
