You know what? This place is nuts. I'd say I was drunk and imagining all of this, except that it's impossible for me to get that drunk in the first place.

Sorry about that. You look just like this Canadian fellow I served with in World War II. Still getting used to the fact that some folks here look like other folks.

World War II? Aren't you a little young to have served in that? Or is this one of those time travel things Rogue was talking about where you're from the past?

Last I remember, before I showed up here, it was 1945. So not all that young.

Captain Steve Rogers.

Nice to meet you, Captain Rogers. Been here long?

Not too long. A couple weeks. Still adjusting to the twenty-first century. Times have changed, that's for sure. Of course not nearly as much as some scientists implied it would back in the day.

And you can just call me Steve.

Yeah? Maybe they have. I couldn't really say.

Right. Steve. You still in the service?

You hear a lot about flying cars and other stuff, then all this time passes and it's almost disappointing to see they were wrong.

Hard to say. I'm almost seventy years out of my time, and there doesn't seem to be a military here. But you never really stop being a soldier.

I'd offer to buy you a drink, but the drinks at Harvelle's are free and if you're anything like Jim you can drink as much as I can. Seems unfair to put Ms. Harvelle out of business.

I know the feeling. About the soldier part. Not so much the flying cars. I wasn't really holding my breath for them. At least, I don't think I was. Give me a decent bike and I'm happy.

That's a lot of drinks.

I just remember hearing Howard Stark talk about stuff like that a lot. But I agree with you on the bike. I've got a pretty nice bike myself.

Far as I can tell, I'm physically incapable of getting drunk. Never once lost a drinking contest.

Yeah? You mean here, or back whever home happens to be?

Huh. Interesting.

Here. There's a parking lot with people's vehicles from home. If you have a bike of your own, it's probably here.

I guess you could say that. It's just how it is.

Didn't know that. I'll have to check. Thanks.

Part of your mutation?

I wouldn't mind seeing yours. I'm definitely a fan of a good bike.

I'm not a mutant. I'm sort of...a special case, I guess.

Same to you. Doing anything tonight?

What sort of special case? Or is that top secret?

Looks like I am now.

It's classified. And honestly, I don't entirely understand it myself.

Good. Because I might go crazy if I spend the whole day with a bunch of kids.

As long as you're okay with it, it's not a bad thing I guess.

All right. If it saves you from a bunch of kids, I guess I'm just doing my civic duty.

I'm fine with it. Helped me serve my country and fight the Reich. Can't ask for much more than that.

That's one way to look at it.

Suppose not.
