Who: Everyone!
What: Transformation Plot Post
Where: All over.
When: Moonrise on the 28th.
Warnings: All kinds, I expect.

The moon slipped up past the horizon full, round, and white. Its effects had been predicted, though perhaps not fully believed by the residents of the building.

Moonlight streamed through the windows of the building, washing the city in pale light. For the tenants of Bellum Letale, where ever they were, scattered in the night, it had a tangible effect.

Change rippled through the building, much as it had over a month before. But this was not simply a twitch in the fabric of things, gone in the blink of an eye. It was a rolling change, gradual as the moonrise, tangible, and, in some cases, likely terrifying in its inexorability. People became what they were, what they ought to have been, and what they weren't.

The moon was up, and trouble was about to run high in Bellum.

[Notes: Remember that the events of last month still apply-I.E, those who became vampires will be vampires when they take on their fable form, the Frog Prince will still be human after being turned back last plot, etc. Whether the fables are aware a month has passed since they were last around is up to the players. This log posted with the anon account so that the mods do not wake up tomorrow with 100 notifications in their gmail. Go forth and plot!]

[ after this. if the time doesn't fit, just shhhhhh ]

Her scream preceded her, throaty and worn with panic as she stumbled onto the next landing and used the railing to haul herself down another few stairs before the wolf could graze her again. Even in the dancer's rising hysteria, she was present enough to notice a lion, a true to God lion, just before her and froze with a rough swallow. She wore the loose shift of a vintage nightgown, and there was a minor cut on one of her feet. Most likely issued by the salivating wolf that was snarling, so close behind.

The Wolf skidded to a stop. Meg was between him and a...cat? A lion. He'd never seen one before, didn't even know how he knew what it was called, but what was important was that it was at least his size and looked like it might be able to put up a decent fight. He snarled at it. It needed to back down-the girl was his kill, and he had chased her this far. He wasn't going to let some big cat steal her.

It was the scream that he noticed first, followed by the faint smell of... blood? He looked up just in time to see a large wolf in hot pursuit of a frantic girl. A hunt in progress. There was no mistaking it-- the wolf was going for the kill, for whatever reason. The entire scene likely would have gone ignored, if he had been an ordinary lion. If some distant part of himself weren't practically screaming for him to help her, God damnit!

He gazed at the young woman for a moment before his gaze fell upon the wolf; mind made up, the tawny form rushed forward a short distance with an aggravated, snarling roar in return. Slaughtering terrified girls on his stairwell? Well, absolutely not.

Watson had watched entire debacle with the Lion (seemingly) attacking nothing at all. Even with all evidence pointing to there truly being nothing there, his 'gift' - or Micah's gift, rather, Watson had no abilities of his own - told him there was someone present. Still, that someone could not be hurt if they could not be seen, and so he'd simply pressed back against the wall at a safe distance and watched with eyes that were both impressed and wary of the powers of this great building (and the beast before him).

When the young woman ran down (chased by a familiar wolf), he thought he (and his cane) were going to have to attempt to defend the woman from both a wolf and a lion. But then the lion roared at the wolf and Watson remained in the shadows. He would observe, unless there was danger. In which case, he would act. His dagger was at the ready, and he would be able to distract either beast long enough for the woman to flee, if it came to that.

He hoped it would not, and he very much wished he was home with Mary, a nice gin and tonic and slippers warmed by the fire.

She scrambled out of the way when the lion rushed the wolf, cowering against the side of stairs. Unwilling to venture forward or back, toward one beast or the other. Although, what either animal was doing in this opera house, Meg had no idea.

The Wolf was paying Watson no real mind. One man in the shadows was inconsequential compared to a giant cat roaring in his face. He let loose a throaty bark, hackles raised and fur on end, making himself as big as possible.

He assessed the risk. There was a giant cat who, admittedly, could likely take him in a fight. He was injured. And something at the back of his mind was pulling him up short at the idea of actually jumping on the girl and just killing her before the lion could interfere.

He cast a look her way, clinging to the side of the stairs like it was dry land in a flood. If he was further injured, a suspiciously human voice in his head pointed out, he couldn't very well tear the Witch apart for what she'd done.

After a long, long pause, the wolf offered a final warning snap of his jaws toward the girl, and backed off a few steps, back up the stairs.

He stubbornly stood tall and alert in spite of the wolf's attempts to appear bigger and more threatening, ready to pounce or box the other creature across the face with a clawed paw at a moment's notice, if necessary. A fight was an overall undesirable concept, but there was a point to be proven now. Backing down would only show weakness and likely provoke an attack. For every step the wolf took backwards, the lion took one forward, ensuring the canine continued his retreat.

There was nothing but relief when the wolf retreated, and Meg sighed before realizing somewhat obliviously that she might now have to contend with a lion. She remained very still against the wall, and might have even held her breath as she tried to determine if the lion had noticed her at all. Of course, how could he not?

He stood watch, tufted tail whipping back and forth, until the wolf was gone for sure. What did that mean for the girl, though? From one dangerous animal to another.

She most certainly had not been forgotten. Turning back towards her, he prowled closer. Frighteningly close, in fact. He was near enough that all it would take was a quick bite for her to be seriously injured-- but that wasn't what was on his mind.

The lion looked over her briefly before seeming to take a quick glance over his shoulder. Then, his large head butted against Meg's side, nudging her in the opposite direction of where the wolf had last been seen.

The blunt splay of her fingers cut into the folds of her nightgown, a whiteknuckled grip that only grew fiercer when the lion took a step closer. Her eyes were wide and watchful. While her first instinct was to turn and run, she could remember how the wolf had taken such chase after she'd done so before. Maybe the lion would lose interest if she stayed very still.

When he bumped his maned head against her hip, Meg jumped with a sharp, mewling sound of panic in her throat. It would have been a girlish scream if she'd been able to unclench her teeth from one another. She suddenly felt very faint. Somewhere inside, James was cringing in mortification.

But the lion had not bitten her, he merely seemed to be.. herding her? Meg swallowed dutifully, and studied the animal's deep, dark eyes. Finally, she pushed away from the wall and followed the lion's instruction, taking a step in the opposite way as that in which the wolf had been chased off.

The poor woman was nearly petrified. Everything about her radiated tension, but who could blame her? Problem was, the lion wasn't exactly sure how to make himself seem less threatening. Steering her away from the wolf was for her own good, although he had no way of explaining that.

Still, he thought he could speak. He wasn't sure how or why, but it was something that he subconsciously knew he should be able to do. Unfortunately, when he tried, he ended up making just another frightening lion-noise.

Not quite as planned. He huffed in displeasure and and immediately sat, hopefully making it clear that an attack would not be forthcoming.

When the lion sounded with a gruff and heavy feline sound, the dancer recoiled. Not far, but the instinct was all the same; a shudder followed by arms being brought in close. But when the lion sank back on it's haunches, Meg turned toward him. The silence deepened, as she was not inclined to try and talk to an animal.. that would have been simply ridiculous, wouldn't it? Instead, she watched him, and their stares echoed for a lengthy moment before she extended a tentative hand toward him. So that he could sniff her or whatever it was that lions used for greeting the wary.

It was almost laughable, and, in fact, the beast let out a short puff of breath that was as close to a chuckle as he could get. All it took was a slight lean forward for him to press his warm nose against the palm of her outstretched hand.

The contact made her gasp softly, a delicate and feminine sound. She grinned, rolling onto the balls of her feet in an aimless gesture of delight. The lion's nose was warm and just slightly wet, Meg ran her hand up the flat bridge of the animal's nose, where the fur was short and tawny. "I do believe you saved me, lion," she assessed with a grin of absolute wonder over being in such close contact to the giant cat.

He rubbed his head against her comparatively much smaller hand after a short downwards nod, much like an overgrown housecat demanding attention in the form of pets, the motion accompanied by a pleased rumble from his throat.

This whole saving-damsels-in-distress gig wasn't all that bad. No wonder it was such a popular hobby.

She laughed when the lion rumbled in approval. Meg ran both hands over his mane, giving exploratory scratches to behind it's ears and down the back of it's thick neck. "Thank you," the sincere words were marked with a sage nod before the dancer flounced down the stairs. She was a vanishing image of white linen and lace, and then she was gone on that initial mission to try and find Christine.
