[A tree is erected in the library at the manor. Another is placed in the foyer. Both are professionally decorated and huge. The manor itself is decorated, as well, with garland, holly, lights, and bulbs. And when snow begins to fall and stick, passersby, those who like to trawl the lakeside mansions for photos, come and sit outside the gates to stare and photograph.

The carnival is decked out, as well, with a 30-foot Christmas tree in the main tent.]

[He really, really, really wants to pull Damian to him and real bad. He can tell Damian's breathing rough, but he can't tell the boy's naked any. He ain't pinpoint 'nough for that. In the end, it's Damian not giving him permission that keeps him from doing what he's inclined to do. That, and the muted knowledge that this is all his doing. Again. His own damn problems screwing the other boy up again. Real soothing, but loud, in the hopes Damian can hear him from wherever the phone is.] Damian. Please pick the phone back up. Please. It took a few seconds longer than it ought, and he dropped his coffin nails as he walked barefoot from the kitchen to the bed. His skin was red and chafed and cold, on account of being dressed real ridiculous for going outside, and he propped a knee on the bed and knelt over the boy there, scooping him up if he could.] Quit- Quit- Stop that. [His voice was still slow as molasses in winter, but his nose was red and snotty, and his cheeks had dried tears caked on.] You listen to me- [He crowded Damian on that bed.] I can't- I need to know me being not okay won't hurt you. Do you understand? I can't have it hurt you. I can't have you hurt yourself on account of me.
