SOmething else I've been thinking about. The participation is down a bit more the last couple of Rounds. Would it be more beneficial to everyone if we started doing every two months instead of every other month? One of the other mods pointed out that the every other month kept it falling on other busy times. Especially for students.

If we go every two months, the schedule would be as follows: January, April, July, October. Leave a comment here on your feelings about shifting it to allow that extra month.

I like the every two months idea, just because I get swamped with things.

I'm good either way, when I'm not dropping off the face of the planet, for which I profusely apologize.

I'd definitely like every two months. This last round I was swamped IRL and couldn't participate like I wanted to.

I wait for someone to write one of my prompts, otherwise I would have responded to another person's prompt by now. I learned it after I wrote a lot in one community and got nothing back. Nobody has done one of mine yet.

I'm sort of exactly the opposite, actually-- I find that there haven't been a lot of prompts that really grabbed me, or I would have written more.

I know this isn't really the issue at hand, but most of the prompts seem very, very vague, to the point where (to me) they don't really leap out immediately suggest a fic, to me.

As for the actual issue-- I like it just the way it is, but either way won't stop me from writing for it, when I can find prompts in the tiny little fandoms I know.

PS-- Whoever left Dragon Age prompts, if you'd suggest some prompts without the Grey Warden, or more with the mage Grey Warden, I would write you a millionty of them! <3!

I think mine is the content. Most of mine are extreme. I thought I had one or two at least that would get interest. Being too vague or too specific can be a problem.

I sent in the Dragon Age ones, so I will keep what you said in mind next battle! I tend to err on the side of vagueness for prompts because I don't want the writer to get stuck, but if they're not getting hooked either that's definitely a problem.

Obviously, this is only one person's opinion, but, I LOVE more specific prompts, in general, particularly for shorter length fic. For longer stuff, it really depends, but for something short, if the prompt doesn't IMMEDIATELY suggest a situation for me, I'm unlikely to pick it, since the length doesn't leave a whole lot of time to set things up.

I'm good with it either way, I just...keep forgetting to check the comm. Aheh.

I have a strange suggestion though. From my participation the last few times, I've noticed that it seems like people keep posting the same prompts over and over, which kind of doesn't leave a whole lot of variety. Could there maybe be a rule that you can't post the same prompts two porn battles in a row (or something similar), just to mix things up a little?

I noticed that too. But a lot of the re-posted prompts are ones that weren't answered in the last battle, so in my mind they're sort of still up for grabs. Not that I don't still find it vaguely annoying when people re-post whole lists of them.

Perhaps do a special 'non-answered prompts' porn battle?

I agree they're still up for grabs, but...if you have to post them every time, I think there's a good chance no one's going to respond.

That's a pretty good idea, actually...

Two months sounds good. I'd like to see the prompt page open for longer in general? Because I keep meaning to participate, but by the time I remember to check up on p_b, it always seems like the prompts are closed. This probably bad timing on my account as well.

I think my major issue is the quickness of it. If the prompt list and posting were left open longer, I could do more. Sometimes I forget to check back and realize I've missed a battle entirely. So how about making it a month-long event? A week for prompts and the rest for stories and then give everybody a month off.

..... I missed this round completely!!! D=

I'm totally with yomiko above. It's like I blink and there's either a new round or the round is over WAY too quickly. >.< I've never written more than ONE fic per round! I'd write more but I just never have enough time or I'm completely missing the rounds! D=

I feel five days to a week for getting in prompts and two to three weeks for writing are respectable. So yeah, a month for a round, then a month off (or two, I'm not picky) would be great.

If I would remind myself to check back more often than once in a blue moon... Haha. I actually popped by today to see if anything was going down, and of course have missed it horribly. :P

I'm really interested by the idea that [info]yomikoreadman and [info]hamimi_fk espoused, though, with the week of prompts and longer open-for-writing time. That way a lot more people could get in on it, especially if RL bites at one time during the open period but is less hectic during another part. More fun and more fic all around, I think! :D

If I can find a prompt that snags my muse, is it all right if I steal it post de facto? :P

Although, looking around a bit more, it looks like it's already on a schedule similar to that suggested. Hm. Maybe bad senses of timing are to blame after all. xD;

So, there was a battle in March, but not in April like the proposed new schedule said. Does that mean the new schedule will be starting this July?
