Rating & Warnings: G
It had been almost four days since 'the incident'. Yindi was not really sure if she wanted to refer to it as 'the incident', 'the change', or refer to it at all. Something had certainly happened and there was a definite change in her abilities as a mutant, but whether or not they were permanent was yet to be determined. The staff would surely be alerted to all of this.
Yindi was deeply torn over the whole thing. She had possessed that little something extra since she was a little girl; her family's dearest friend, Burnum, he had sensed that she was different from the day she was born. As she grew, Yindi was able to make little plants and flowers grow from the ground. There was something very exciting to this evolution and advance in her abilities since everything had been the same for as long as she could remember. But there was the aspect to it that was a fear if not an outright burden for many people like her--which was the issue of control. The young woman hated the idea that vines might just grow out of her hands or flowers pop out of the top of her head whenever they felt like it.
This was the most vulnerable she had felt since the last time she had seen her parents, back home, before she ended up on this side of America. Just when it appeared as though she had a decent amount of control over her life, everything changed again. Yindi was really beginning to hate change when it was unexpected; everyone did, but for the time being, she felt like she was the only one.
The plants had only stopped growing out of her hands, feet and head because Yindi had burned through her energy reserves. Never before had the girl looked so incredibly sick, ghost-white but seemingly so withered. It was a struggle to concentrate, let alone talk. But a few hours under some rather warm lamps seemed to have done the trick--until she got upset and her arms sprouted cacti needles.
She was mentally and almost physically exhausted and staying down in the medical ward was getting to her. They were going to turn the lamps on again soon but while there was a moment she could get out, Yindi put on a robe and slippers and did her best to tip-toe to her dormitory room. The door always creaked a little and so she left it wide-open to make a quick exit and head back downstairs before anyone noticed she had left. The little light on her nightstand was clicked on and cast a soft light over her rather messy room. Her CD player was still under her pillow and she tried to quietly rummage for a few partial albums in a shoe box on the floor.
