RP: The Wall Without a Door
WHO: Lily, Dorcas
WHEN: later afternoon, June 21
WHERE: Charing Cross Road, London, 'round where the Leaky is - not that she knows that
WHAT: Contemplation while on a book mission
STATUS/RATING: Dropped?
Lily had received a list of recommended reading for the summer from a series of teachers at the school, and while she'd tracked down most of them locally, she'd had to trek all the way to London proper for the last one. She'd called ahead to the used bookstore to ensure they had a copy, and asked them to hold it for her.
After leaving a note for Severus so he wouldn't worry, Lily had done a fair bit of walking and catching buses when she could to make her way into London. She'd hunted down the store and fetched her book, and then started along a route that would lead her by one of her favorite places here. She had no idea why the place held such fascination for her - there was nothing there but a blank wall.
Well, that wasn't precisely true. The first time she'd noticed what wasn't there to notice, she would have sworn someone stepped out of the wall. She hadn't seen anyone approaching from either side, but very suddenly an older gentleman had ... been there. He'd smiled to her before nodding and turning to head off to wherever he was going. Lily had never told anyone about it, because it would have sounded absurd. Besides, he'd probably just ... come around a blind corner or out of one of the stores and she just hadn't noticed. It simply hadn't felt that way to her.
Whenever she was in the area, she made a point of passing by the place, and if she had time, she lingered for a bit. Deciding she had at least a few minutes tonight, she parked herself on a nearby bench and simply gazed around the area, glancing more than necessary to the blank wall whose allure she could not begin to explain. It was ... a blank wall, for pity's sake, between the record store and a book store.
Emerald eyes wandered to watch the patrons of the various stores as well, and she thought she might go poke around the bookstore as well as long as she was here, but ... for the moment, she was content to sit on the bench and watch the world go by.
