Dorcas Meadowes was in a foul mood - no, that was putting it nicely. Dorcas was absolutely bollocksed off. She wanted to stomp her feet and yell and scream and pull at her hair until everyone else around her understood her frustration. For the third time that week, her boss at The Drop (a cramped little pint-and-lager men's bar in a dead-end backalley in what was virtually in the heart of London) had called her in for a shift. This would have been perfectly fine, had he not tried to send her home after barely an hour's work. "We just don't need you today, love." Cue his smarmy grin and grabby fingers as he curled a strand of her blonde hair around his fingers. "But if you wanted to help me out back..."
Yeah, Dorcas didn't think so. For the third time this week, she slapped him as hard as she could muster across the face, and stormed off in a fit of huffing and puffing. She really needed a new job. Somewhere nice and tidy, that she could actually brag about getting dressed up to go to every morning. The likelihood of that happening, though, was virtually nil. Nobody wanted to hire a wannabe punk rocker who didn't finish high school, did they? The electricity bill sitting on her kitchen countertop was her sole motivation for putting up with The Drop and its sleazy patrons, though most days even warmth and hot water didn't seem entirely worth it.
Sighing, Dorcas pulled her jacket tighter to her body and trudged her way down the somewhat busy street she now found herself on. She wasn't entirely sure how, but she often found her way walking down this little alley when she was lost and aimless. Somehow, it was as if her body's chemistry just knew where to take her, feet drawing her closer and closer to what was essentially a brick wall. "What a sign, huh?" Dorcas murmured to herself, pale eyes glancing the wall up and down for a moment. She didn't want to go shopping (or have the money to), or do anything but go home, but she felt far too exhausted to move anywhere else right now. She allowed herself to fall back on a chair bench, uncaring about the person already sitting there, and threw her head back against the edge with a sigh. "Fucking stupid day and its stupid bosses and - fuck it, man."
