As Lily listened, her brows crept slowly higher as her expression shifted, as her eyes widened. She was amused a little that the woman had pegged her occupation so easily, and Lily glanced to the bag that held the book as if that had somehow betrayed her but ... the book was wrapped within the bag. So perhaps she just had that 'vibe' about her - the nurturing, teaching sort of vibe.
"I can honestly say I've never been in a situation like that. I've done a bit of waitressing, but it was a more high class, laid back sort of establishment than this. And it wasn't for very long - just something to pay the rent while I tried to figure out what I wanted to do with my life."
She paused, a grin creeping across her lips. "And yes, I am ... an apprentice teacher at the moment. I'll be eligible for the certifications at the end of this term."
Lily studied the girl, and hesitated slightly. It hardly seemed proper to go about offering advice when she'd simply offered an ear, but not trying to help would go against her very nature. "I don't suppose you've been looking for other jobs? Places that aren't so tolerate of such crass and uncouth behaviors?" She knew it could be tough to find work at times, and her lips twitched slightly into a smile.
She almost ignored the question about her presence here, but shrugged it off. "I was just in the neighborhood. On a book hunt and thought I'd take a little break before heading home."
