Lily made a sympathetic noise to Dorcas' story of her ex boyfriend, shaking her head slightly and once again reminding herself how lucky she was to have Sev with her. "Well, it suits him. The pharmacy bit. He's working at one now, but his boss is something of a prat. Keeping him late without the pay he deserves from it," she admitted, her eyes hardening briefly. If she thought it would have done any good - and not gotten Sev fired - she would've marched right down there and given his boss a piece of her mind, very loudly. "Besides that, he wants to be able to give me time to write," she added, a faint smile edging her lips. "I used to make up stories in school, for my creative writing classes. About silly things, wizards and magic and a giant castle for a school. Ridiculous, I know, but it seemed to fit ..."
Lily shrugged and ducked her head slightly before retreating back to the conversation at hand. She wanted to assure the woman that it would get better, but she knew that wasn't always the case. Some people really did just have a rubbish lot in life, and not all of them ever got the chance to rise above it. Circumstances and happenstance kept them repressed and weighed down, and sometimes that was simply their lot. Still, Lily wanted the poor dear's life to pick up and be better.
"It's really always just been Lily. My dad sometimes called me Lils, and Tuney - my sister - she'd call me Libby to piss me off, or Lilabelle." Though that hadn't lasted long. "I hadn't really settled don what I wanted to teach. Younger children, so probably just general education, a bit of everything. Though I wouldn't mind trying my hand at a creative writing class for the older set."
