Rating: TBA (but I wouldn't expect any gratuitous sex over lattes)
Malcolm sighed, putting the paper down and picking up the cup of black coffee. Tracing the rim of the cup with his finger, he glanced at the clock.
Three hours. Three hours and two newspapers later, and he had yet to find a job he considered satisfactory. Perhaps, he mused as he brought the cup to his mouth for a close sip (the coffee tasted like dishwasher, and he would have to remember not to come back here), if he had spent less time perusing newspaper personal ads, the time could have been used more productively. But he knew that the problem was not really his procrastination, but his standards. He did not plan on becoming a Potions factory again, nor did he want to work as a shop clerk. Those parts of his life were supposed to be past. With a new career to embark on that would promise greater prospects for the future.
He smiled lightly. Some future indeed. His eyes wandered to the window as he placed the mug back onto the table. |

After an exchange of owls, and a discussion with Chris and another with Jac to reassure them that it was all right, Astoria had arranged for Draco to visit her at Redbridge House. At the appointed hour, she was sitting in the parlour, waiting for her guest. She had hated to ask Jac for so much help dressing; it left the impression that she was weaker than she felt. But she should really be doing her own cosmetic charms now, or switching her own clothes on and off when it was time to change, and it was easier to let Jac do the work because she didn't feel up to it than to explain another reason. In any case, she was prepared now for Draco's arrival, as were the house-elves and Jac and Vida. |

What:Another Day, Another Meeting
Zacharias arrived promptly for lunch at the OWLS club, dressed in a set of what were fine contemporary robes from a years ago before all this mess started. He handed his card to the host when he entered, waiting patiently for him to return. Zach had his editorial statement prepared for Lucius to look over as well as ideas in his head about what to do with the Neville situation. The host returned and led Zach to Lucius' table where Zach clasped Lucius hand and gave him a smile.
"It's good to see you again, Lucius," he said, doing his best not to call the other man sir. |

There was a tell-tale pop, and the diminutive elf spoke almost immediately. "Master Lucius' complements, Master Draco, and he would like to see you on the South Verandah." Healy, the house-elf, popped out almost as quickly as he had appeared. |

He was hungry, thirsty, and his arm hurt, but he didn't relish another trip to Wales. Pucey had owled him directions to the underground clinic where he worked, but Draco hadn't thought to ask when he'd be on shift there next. Gritting his teeth, he pulled the directions out of his pocket and making his way through the Tube system, he made his way there to one of the seedier areas in London.
Like it or not, he needed assistance, more than he could do on his own. Hitting the buzzer at the front door, he was let in and made his way upstairs. |

What: Running into each other
Most of the rescuers who hadn't been gravely injured had left, but Draco's bullet wound wasn't healing as well as it should be. He tried explaining to the ancient Healer working on him that he'd had problems like this before, that he didn't heal quickly, but the old man seemed determined that his spells should work and it must be Draco's fault he couldn't stop bleeding.
At least it didn't hurt anymore. Holding the poultice close to his wound, Draco looked up at the ceiling of the hospital room. He was alone, for the first time in many hours and felt the weight of all that happened that morning slipping off his shoulders. All he wanted to do now was go back to the Manor house, crawl into his comfortable bed, and sleep for a few days.
He crept into the hall, wondering if he couldn't just leave when he saw her. At least, it looked like her, but it had been a while and the Granger he remembered didn't seem the Healer type. |
