So, is there some big, grand purpose for me being here? Or at least something I could do, you know, at all. I'm really not great at the whole sitting on my hands thing.

Voldemort after the point he's divided his soul into the Horcruxes, no. But back when he was Tom Riddle? Yes, I'd give him a chance. He had a terrible, terrible upbringing and if he had support when he was younger, maybe he could have used the immense power he had for good things. And Grindelwald did horrible things, but he believed what he was doing was for the greater good. Which is kind of exactly what Jacen Solo and Tahiri Veila believed they were doing, and we accept them as part of our community, so yes, I'd offer the same to Grindelwald.

I think that's absolute bullshit and Tom Riddle killed people before he split his sou It's a nice thought.

It is. I believe there is good in people, even those who commit terrible acts. We've all seen it happen here, in Jacen Solo, Khan, the Mikaelsons, Regina Mills, Ruby Winchester, Crowley, others besides. All people who stood with us on the battlefield, to fight Lucifer and save humanity. People can do so much if they're given a second chance.

It's all right, Lily. I don't expect anything from her. She has her reasons, she's entitled. Trust me.

Oh, I know she is. What you did to her was wrong on so many levels. And you need to remember that you get a second chance here, not an infinite number of chances. But those people I listed? They took their second chance and did good things with it, and you can do the same.

Which is your choice to make, definitely. But if you want my advice, one of the big things that helped all those people was making friends.

Maybe. It's not exactly the easiest thing for me, though.

If it was easy, it wouldn't mean anything.

In this place, you're not going to be judged for what you are. So you're a werewolf, big deal. No one is going to hunt you for that. What matters is who you are. So what you need to really think about is who do you want to be? Do you want to be a selfish arse who only thinks about himself? If you do, that's a perfectly valid life choice, but people will treat you accordingly. But if you want to, you could make real friends who care about you, you could use the power you have to help others, make a difference around here. Only one who can decide that is you.

Look around you. Look at the people here, the "Evil" Queen, the former Sith pair, the ancient vampires. And then tell me you can't find morals when they did. Unless, of course, you're saying you're weaker than they are.

Of course, you are talking to the girl who is adopted crew of a legendary pirate, BFFs with an Original and gets hilariously drunk with a Dark Fae. And one day, I will make Derek smile. Not giving up on that. I root for all kinds of weird people.

Playing to my ego, smart girl. And I'm not weak. Just so we're clear.

Good luck on that last bit.

I think there's good in people. Not hi I'm aware that allegiances change. I'm not an idiot.

But I don't believe in giving everyone the benefit of the doubt off the bat. Nor do I expect people to give me that. Derek is a pretty great example, now that I'm thinking about it. He's been a great person here; I'm aware that people change. Peter murdered Derek's sis He's self-serving and manipulative So we'll see.

But if people aren't given the benefit of the doubt, are they truly being offered another chance? I know there are people who can never forgive the wrongs done to them, like Graham can't forgive Regina for killing him, Kol couldn't forgive the Gilberts for killing him. Mostly they try to ignore their existence. Which you would know if you ever bothered talking to people outside of your immediate group It's the more extreme version of if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. No one expects forgiveness, just the space to be able to do use the new chance.

I get that you're hopeful and optimistic, and really, that's a nice-sounding thing. I don't know if I see it as sensible, but then again, it's not my life. You can be aware of a person's capacity regarding their power and danger and give them another chance.

It doesn't hurt to be aware. Like when Scott let Deucalion go

I am. Because I've seen it happen, both at home and here. People wanting to be better, and succeeding at it. Some people will waste the opportunities, and that's their loss, but everyone deserves a second chance. And maybe I'm not sensible, maybe I'm even naive, but my optimism has gotten me some incredible friends, loyal and good people, who had been written off by others.

Depends on why they lost their fir Speaking from personal experience, one second chance quickly becomes two, then three, then an endless number of them. I'm glad it hasn't backfired on you.

Maybe that's why you don't bother talking to the vast majority of people here My personal experience has been very different.
