THE APOCALYPSE

 photo rky0xt.gif

This is your IC Threadpost.

Please keep things labelled with character names in the subject line.

I'll be doing a few subheaders. Pre fight, Battle, Hellbound and Aftermath. Tag into any of these and if you want another subthread made ask me or MJ so it looks all tidy and whatnot.

Go forth and thread mah lovelies
I'm also gonna suggest cutting comms from the battle to the aftermath down to bare mimimum communications while the main battle threads go on to keep it a little bit real time. If you have to for time constraint reasons please mark it post battle

The moment the realisation hit that the battle was about to begin, Marian knew she couldn't do as she'd said. She really had intended to stay at the Roadhouse, guarding the city with Tahiri and Natasha and Adam and the others. She understood where everyone was coming from. There was a possibility that she would be a distraction to Robin. That keeping her and the baby safe would put him and the others under his lead in danger.

But no one knew her husband like she did. No one knew how good a leader he was, except perhaps Much. And she knew her own skill levels. The only person who would fight harder to keep her safe than Robin was Marian herself. She wanted this baby born. Desperately. But she wanted him or her to be born into a world that was safe and peaceful. If she didn't fight to give her child that, what was the point in it all?

She found the main battle easily enough and surveyed the scene in front of her. For better or for worse. Wasn't that what her vows said? She was meant to stand by Robin of Locksley. She was meant to defend her family. She caught sight of the archers, readying themselves for battle, her husband standing tall and proud and looking ready to lead a war. He'd never looked more handsome to her. Much and Lydia stood nearby, both preparing their weapons.

This was her family. And she would stand with them, even if this was the end.

They were ready. He and Much had discussed their strategies, and as he had always done, in moments when it truly mattered, his friend had proven his worth. They had all been given their tasks, all had a part to play. As he looked over them he felt quietly confident, hopeful, that they could do this. To Robin, that meant that they suffered as few losses as possible. And if he had his way, that meant that everyone under his lead would make it through unscathed.

He didn't know what it was that made him turn and look back over his shoulder. But the moment he did he saw her. He could have spotted her easily amongst a crowd of thousands. But there she was, standing alone and with a determined expression he recognised all too well. She had come to fight. Though they had discussed it, and she had seemed to think it best she stayed back, she had come. And despite the knowledge that their unborn child, and she herself, might be safer if she had stayed at the roadhouse, he found himself glad to see her there. If this truly was to be the end, he knew he would prefer to have her by his side.

Turning to Lydia and Much, he placed a hand on his arm to get his attention. He nodded in Marian's direction to indicate he intended to go and speak with her. He trusted his friend to ensure all was ready in his brief absence. He and Marian would rejoin them shortly, regardless. Ready or not, the fight would be upon them soon.

Once he'd reached her he stopped directly in front of her, the end of his bow resting against the ground as he held it. With his free hand he reached up, cupping her cheek. "Are you sure about this?" He wouldn't tell her to go. He wouldn't tell her it was a bad idea. This was her choice, and this was her fight, as much as it was anyone else's, here.

Her own bow was in her hand. Despite her desire to not get into hand to hand if she could help it, she also had her sword and her dagger belted to her hip. For how serious the fight they were facing was, she wasn't taking her chances with simply a long range weapon.

She'd expected a fight. For him to snap at her, to call her immature or something or to be angry with her for putting herself and their baby in danger. She had a million and one reasons at the ready for anything he threw at her. When he touched her, though, when he once again left the choice in her hands, all the fight drained from her and she nodded.

"I'm sure," she confirmed, setting her shoulders and lifting her chin. Still, the soft touch of his hand against her cheek almost made her rethink her resolve. If anything happened to him, this baby would be what was left. And she couldn't let that happen. She couldn't lose them both.

But what was the point of bringing a baby into the world if she couldn't guarantee her child's safety? She had to do what she could. And this? This was definitely something she could do. She had fought for the people or Nottingham without Robin around. She could manage this, too.

"This is where I belong. With you. With all of you. I don't want our baby to ever have to worry about this. To live in fear like we do." Briefly, she tilted her head so her face rested against his hand. "I want to see this through. I want to help if I can."
