THE YEAR IS 2060. Mandatory genetic screening has been in effect for over sixty years.
Every day, all over the world, children testing positive for the genetic phenotypes associated
with homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality are removed from their parents and relocated
to walled-off sub-districts of major cities by the global theocracy. Families are destroyed, lives
irrevocably altered. Within the Districts, LGBT individuals are governed by a set of restrictions
and privileges bestowed based on their socioeconomic status. Some are apathetic, some despair,
some are even reasonably content -- and some are angry. Very angry. Maybe it's only a matter of
time. Sure, most of the populace is complacent, but echoes of dissent are popping up everywhere
these days. Some of them aren't afraid of doing what it takes to be heard. Where do you stand?
With the silent, downtrodden majority? With those who believe that working from within the system
is the only way to defeat it, that small victories will eventually add up to the big one? Or are you
with the hardliners, the rebels, the ones ready to set the world on fire to get their point across?

SHAKEN AS WE ARE is a referral-based LGBT rpg set in a dystopic, near-future
Chicago modified by more than a hundred years of alternate history. We're a small, relaxed
game with an emphasis on community feeling, well-developed characters, and good writing.

Can you find the way off the island?

They stepped through portals and no wards or locks could stop them. They kidnapped individuals and took them to an artificial island for the purpose of observing them. The Heads put their new subjects in rooms in a hotel, turned on their cameras, and settled down to wait. They were engaged in a social experiment, peppering their artificial island with rumors of a way back home, if only people could learn to work together. But the people weren't simply left to their own devices. The Heads create hazards on a weekly basis to keep the population on their toes and to observe the effects of various changes to the environment. They want to see the formation of bonds of friendship and love, of animosity and hatred, and then test those bonds. Is there an escape? Will it be found before it's too late? Can antagonists learn to work together? Come join us and find out ...

I've got a pet project here that I would dearly love to see played out, but it requires extensive exercise in world building and I know that I won't be able to run this on my own. I would love to bring a moderator or two onboard to help bring this to life. Entitled Echo 1, the premise revolves around a dystopic future that's been steadily rebuilt with some elements of sci-fi and a heavy focus on alternate reality world politics. The detailed timeline is in the works in a private post within, which I would be happy to open up for discussion with any interested parties.

The gist of it is that WWIII went down and the world is now divided into two supranational factions: the Russo-China Alliance and the United Federation, with a sprinkle of independent movements in various parts of the world. The RCA is led by the Politburo of the Alliance, the Chairman and General Secretary of which is Leonid Vasilievich Pavlov, a fairly recent appointment. The UF is led by the United Council (which runs a bit like the European Union and the UN combined), the president of which is William Howard Carpenter, an all American boy next door type in the public eyes. In the beginning, it will be fairly obvious that UF and Carpenter are the "good guys" and the RCA and Pavlov the antagonists. However, as the plot progresses, it will become increasingly obvious to a select few characters that Carpenter is not the saintly embodiment that everyone believes him to be. In fact, at some point, Carpenter will become the "bad guy" and Pavlov the one fighting to foil his scheme. But there will always be a twist or a curveball around the corner, so really there will never be a dichotomic division of good and evil.

The official languages of the Russo-China Alliance are Russian and Mandarin Chinese, and Creole English for the United Federation. Technology has advanced a great deal, though not totally out of the realm of possibility. Two major developments are superluminal travel and eternal youth. The title Echo 1 itself refers to an unlikely joint project between the two Superpowers in which humanity achieved its first outer space colony. This colony is called Echo 1, but it will eventually be revealed that Echo 1 (or possibly its unknown predecessor, depending on where the game is heading) is a complete sham and that the deformed outcasts living in the nuclear wastelands are victims of a nefarious project which was the basis for the eternal youth made possible for those who can afford it. The human population is down because immortality comes at the cost of infertility in 95% of cases, not to mention the war casualties. The class gap between the rich and the poor is huge and most of the survivors of WWIII are concentrated in six major cities. Here's a mock-up map to help you get a better sense of the geopolitical situation.

Someone who is politically astute (which I sadly cannot claim to be) would be an asset, though by no means a requirement. Although the game is alternate reality, it would be tremendously helpful to have an accomplice who can pipe in when something is off the charts ludicrous. If you are at all interested in modding, please, please let me know! I promise to be friendly and not at all choosy.

BETWEEN THE LINES A MULTI-ERA HARRY POTTER RP premise • taken/available characters • application • faq An unspeakable has designed journals with the magic of pensives and time-turners included in them as a pet project, a way to talk to himself in the future. He mistakenly leaves the journals on a shelf above experimental potions. When the shelf breaks the journals fall into the potions and begin to change, duplicate, and disappear at random. Even after he cleans up the mess and finds a new safe for the books they still continue to appear and disappear. He didn't have the heart to burn them like he should have when entries started pouring in from multiple people from various eras. All throughout time journals are appearing in bedrooms, trunks, front lawns, and any other number of places. The first two pages are always empty, but slowly the pages behind that begin to fill in with diary entries, letters, pictures, and greetings from all manner of wizarding folk - even people you may know to be dead, or children you're sure don't exist. What do you have to say? Between the Lines is a harry potter rp bringing together characters from every era. What would an imprisoned Sirius Black have to say to the first year Peter Pettigrew? Would Draco Malfoy want to apologize to Albus Dumbledore for a crime the headmaster didn't even live through yet? Would Ginny Weasley even want to talk to a journal that can talk back? It's up to you. Let them enjoy the chance while they have it, the inventor warns he may decide to stop the whole project, incinerating the first journal - his own - and thereby destroying all of them if this project has serious effects on the time lines. What he doesn't realize is the journals and their magic are more unstable then he thinks. People are pouring more of themselves into the journals, changing them. Talking to each other is well and good, but what happens when they start appearing in odd places, seeing one another as well? All in good time.
