If I'm to get on in an entirely different world, I'm glad I can now do it with my best friend here.





He looks fierce but is generally quite friendly. Calenhad is a mabari, which means he is as smart as most people. He understands Trade and Orlesian, but he only speaks Dog.

OOC note: he's about the size of a mastiff but looks like a blue pitbull

He does, and you may if he allows it. Mabari are their own masters. Come to visit us at Skyhold and ask him, and odds are that he'll promptly throw himself at your feet for the bellyrubs to commence.

I'm about to ask another stupid question: what is a vet? I can tell from context that they care for animals in some way, but that's all.

There are no stupid questions when you're trying to figure out not-medieval times. So! A vet is short for veterinarian, which is a doctor who cares for animals. They go to school for it and everything.

There are a few in the city! And Atreus runs the animal sanctuary in the forest and he's super great. So you'll have plenty of options for your furry friend.

Oooh, so he's the literal actual dog whisperer. I just use treats and butt scratches to get results.

I'm super looking forward to meeting him though! I can come to Skyhold to visit and like, not just for the parties. But I totally want to go to one of the parties too. If you want to go with me, since you live there. It might be fun.

Yes, I came upon him at a palace where the Inquisition obligated me to be for a week or so. My best assumption is that some noble wanted a mabari for a status symbol and then discovered that keeping company with a very large, very smart dog actually requires effort.

Ha! Okay, I'm happy to help. I just ran a fundraiser to make money for a larger medical and healing building, too. But I do animal healing for a lot of people in the forest if you ever need anything else.
