I almost forgot Pride was this weekend!! Being a mom is... all-consuming, and tiring, and stressful, and definitely one of the best things that's ever happened to me (after meeting my wife and marrying her, obviously).

But anyway, I don't think we can do Pride the same way this year, but is two weeks old too young to do the family stuff on Sunday? I need a consensus here, please.

I think it should be alright for some things. You guys will know when they've had enough and you want to pack it in?

Oh yeah, there's no mistaking it. They're really too little for too much in any respect, but I thought maybe an hour or two, so we don't completely miss it, would be okay. I doubt there's a whole lot for an infant to do, anyway.

Its calmer on Sunday from what I remember. Less noise so that should help, right? IDK if like getting brunch with people would work or not? Means you get a chance to be out of any heat or rain if that happens.

Brunch sounds like a great idea, actually! That might make Catra more amenable to the idea, too.

I don't know, we never went. But a lot of people take their kids and do fun things.

But Sabrina suggested brunch instead, so we're not out in the weather. Want to do that? You can probably get all the guys to come out.

I was almost sure you were going to say no, so yay! Let's do it!

We might even be able to the parade tomorrow morning if you want? Before things get too crazy.

We took Gracie to Fight Club when she was two weeks old, why not? She wears noise cancelling headphones. We take her fucking everywhere with us. Strap the kid in the baby carrier sling thing and go if you want, and if you don't, use the baby as an excuse.

[...] That's a really great idea. Do they make baby-sized noise cancelling headphones? Or you just use the big ones?

Yeah, I know, I have a million fucking good ideas. They're baby sized, or else the one headphone would literally be the size of the baby's head. But it's outdoors so unless you're going to a concert or whatever, they should be fine--up to you, obviously, you're the parent.

I had no idea they made baby headphones. This is going to send me down a crazy rabbit hole, I know it. I'm not sure what they really do on Sundays? I need to pull up the whole schedule and check it out. I feel like a concert might be pushing it noise-wise, even with headphones, but maybe not?

Are you going, Steve?

I think you two have earned some time off. And I'm sure you'll make up for it next year and the years to come.

I absolutely intend to. I'm sure Nat, Kate, and Yelena would drag me along otherwise.

That's the plan! I really love Pride. We didn't have anything like it back home. And not in, like, a bad way, it just wasn't a thing.

Oh, I'm pretty sure you only need one of those names to get dragged along. All three must be a big force to be reckoned with.

I've only done Pride once with Alex and enjoyed it. I'm sure we'll be there too, and like everyone else implied - as long as you're comfortable, do it. My unofficial recommendations would be to bring hand sanitizer and sun protection but I'm sure you've thought about that already?

We are definitely doing hand sanitizer and sunscreen and - OH, maybe a cute little rainbow hat? They're literally going to be the cutest baby there, and I'm not at all biased.

I'm glad you're coming out again! You can finally meet Finn in person!

Little hats are always adorable, yes. Babies have such fragile skulls for the first few months so the little layer of protection never hurts.

I can. I'm excited. I'm more familiar with children when it comes to how fascinating their developmental milestones are (which leads me to suggest swimming lessons by the way, babies can swim but I know water is a Hot Topic in your household) so excuse me if I'm not offering to hold them right away.

[info]legendaryhero

Now you're making me want to buy them something more like a bike helmet.

No one will force you to hold them before you're ready, I promise. And I did consider doing those Mommy & Me swim lessons with them so they might get a little more used to water while they're still tiny, but I'm not sure if Catra would like that. She can swim, but it's not her favorite thing. Probably one of her least favorite things.
