My child this morning:

"Why couldn't the hand go on the carnival ride? Because it said it had to be five feet and it was only five fingers."

There’s no mistaking where she gets that sense of humor.

I could never pull one like that off though. She's still got the child innocence to pull it off.

She does. But she's got the exact same silly grin afterward.

At those times, I feel for Winona. We couldn't make it work twice and now she's gotta co-parent a mini-me with me back home.

From what you've told me about her, I think Winona is handling that gracefully.

Thankfully she's got you to be a good role model.

My big sister training translates well to being a stepmother. The not-evil kind, thankfully.

Hey, I had a damn good stepmother so I believe they exist. Of course she was my aunt first and that was how I preferred thinking of her even after but the point still stands in technicality.

I would say "that's a unique situation", but I doubt it is completely. I know she was good to you, though; I aspire to be that good to Willa, and I think it's been working out.

Prue, I don't say this lightly ever, but if anything ever happened to me I would trust you with Willa's life. Not to say I don't now but the in the face of no return. I know she'd be good with you.

I know, honey. I appreciate that. But let's maybe not speak that possibility into the universe.

She got me laughing good with that one. There's a way the young ones deliver a punchline that adults just can't, make terrible jokes better than they got any right to be.

I'm still not sure how all that happened being not the most sensitive of folk but something about kids. They come into your life and you know you're gonna protect them and make sure they get all the chances possible to 'em.

Yeah I know the feeling. Gotta figure a lot of it is just the kid herself on my case but it isn't like I'd leave any kid to suffer either.

I get what you're saying entirely. Before Willa, there was a kid in Harlan I felt particularly protective over with all life threw at her. Understood where she was coming from, you know? Of course she grew up to build a weed empire in Harlan County.

Actually she did not. Loretta is a hell of a self-sufficient kid. I feel bad for anyone who tries to take her on.

It is given the field makes plenty of enemies. Probably should've been more concerned about the field she chose to go into but hell, I'd be a hypocrite. I know I smoked a few as a teen.

Honestly never figured a time would come in my life where I would be considering the internals of a disembodied monster hand.

There's a part of me that thinks I shouldn't be surprised, and yet I am.

...Still I would hate to meet the monster that hand belonged to.

I guess I'd be concerned that if I wasn't surprised that I'd become desensitized to it, and I don't know if I want that.

Sorry, couldn't help it.

You've seen too much if you've become desensitized to the possibility of anything happening.

It's not out of the realm of possibility.
