Ok, yeah, so, I was told weird shit stuff goes on here and all that. I was ready for that. But, people have turned into kids, or old versions of themselves...and everyone is treating it perfectly normal? Is it normal? Should I not be concerned about this?

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

I'm not freaking out nearly as much as I think I should be, but I think maybe there's a limit at how freaked out someone can be and I might just be there so might as well do something useful like fire-lizard (?????) proof an ancient Chinese village where they teach spontaneously generated children art.

I think it depends on the "freaky shit" that you come face to face with. Zombies and mutated monsters wanting to tear my face off? Yeah, no problem. People around me turning into children? Not so much.

Christ, what does that say about me?

Oh yeah, freaky shit trying to tear my face off was on Monday.

Freaky Shit Monday? No, doesn't have the right ring to it.

You were the kid who came in being chased by werewolves, right?

Yep, that's me.

So, you got zombies where you're from, huh? That's cool. Cool cool cool.

Zombies and other things. All of which are about as cool as the werewolves chasing you.

Yeah. I guess they both have that whole 'propagation by biting' thing going for them, huh?

Yup, just like that. The whole dying part is not so great either.

Have you died?

Couple of close calls, but I haven't been made into zombie food yet.

Okay. I thought I'd ask because I guess people do die and then end up here like, all the time? Like my friend died but now she's fine and I guess we're just not talking about it? Which is cool because I wouldn't want to talk about it either if I died but you'd think that

Really? Like..alive, alive, or like the undead alive?

Alive Alive, I think. But I guess there could be some undead alive too? But no one's eating brains (unless they are????) so I think they're fine?

Jesus Christ. I don't even want to know what kind of science or magic or whatever is able to let that happen.

Vallo's magic goes haywire fairly regularly. Since it never seems to last more than a few days, most of us treat it like a manageable inconvenience. We're people who live on a southern island and got used to hurricanes.

I guess I haven't been here long enough to get used to the hurricanes. Weird ass hurricanes, though.

Certainly it is not normal, but also not unusual. I was very old recently, for example, although I do not remember.

You don't remember being old? Jacob mentioned the same thing - That he wasn't going to remember anything? What happens to the memories?

Well, I suppose old me still remembers being here, but I do not. It is an interesting philosophical question, though.

So, this is...you all are time traveling? Is that what's happening?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]lungtienxiang

I do not think it is time-travel, exactly. I have not studied extensively on this and only in my free time, but I believe Vallo is shifting reality slightly to one side or the other, such as it sometimes does with space - things moving around all the time, and so on. It stands to reason if one has the power to do it with space, one could do it with time. I do not know where I was when old me was here instead, so I expect my actual body was the same, and it was Vallo moving around me, rather than me actually moving in time.

Perhaps I should write a thesis on it.

Yeah, you should since that's the most detailed answer I've gotten so far. It also makes my head hurt as I try to wrap it around it all.

It is difficult to understand from a physics perspective, but I am sure there is some mathematics that will make it quite clear, if I only had the time to work on it.

I didn't so so well with either physics or math when I was in school.

Maybe...I don't know...you'll get that chance sometime? It could be interesting to figure out?

Mathematics is very important! It is the foundation of all civilised society in my view, after all, no ships or buildings or advanced technology could exist without it, and it is good at explaining theoretical concepts also. I have only a basic understanding of string theory from my casual reading, but the new school year is coming up soon; maybe I will start a course in theoretical physics.

You are way smarter than I am. Especially if you're out here casually reading up on string theory. I'm not sure I could even tell you what string theory is and be correct.

Well, I may be cleverer than some people, but that is just breeding. Anyone can learn about anything, if they are interested enough. Of course some people are only interested in cows, so theoretical physics is not particularly useful.
