Remy LeBeau - Cajun Superchef.
Hello there, valar net! Guess what tastes like chicken, only slightly spongier, after you skin a bunch of them, rip the nasty poop shoot parts out, and deep fry them?

Hairy critters!

The others that I've found, I done added to jambalaya after properly seasoning them up and they aren't half bad! Sure, everything tastes like chicken, they say. But in some cases, it's the truth. Like this case! :D

One downside is that I think I ate Baby. But Baby was delicious and kept MAKING babies, so...c'est la vie. Got to get rid of them somehow.

I might also have drank a few too many beers during my culinary adventure.

...

To my housemates? Enjoy. There's leftovers in the fridge.

Don't knock it until you've tried it, petite. And I think they're all she's and not he's.

Technically correct. Creatures monogendered, it seems, and born pregnant.

Merci! Good to know I wasn't all that wrong then.

I guess I'm eating a great big uterus but hey, it's pretty tasty after a couple of beers are knocked back, so I'm not complaining.

True that. So far, so good. I ain't gotten sick yet, though I did get a mild case of indigestion. It was just a beer burp. Nothing deadly.

I understand there are lots of things out there in the wild that we can digest for nutritional value if we need to, especially in situations where there aren't any other viable sources available, but...

They're so cute. I can't eat them. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them, though, because I can't tell which one is Leonardo and I can't make capes and masks for all of them...

Way I see it? Rabbit tastes pretty good just as much as gator does. And these things breed faster than bunnies in the springtime. It is downright problematic, oui?

There ain't gonna be enough capes and masks. That means it's time for critter bites.

Yes but what if they're sentient somehow?

I mean ... you named it and everything and then you ate it, think about its feelings...

I thought about it for about ten seconds after I woke up and Baby had birthed babies on the pillow next to my head. Then they kept right on birthing babies.

Since they aren't going to stop and Baby got lost in that mix? I'm going to have to say...a lot of critters probably are aware of their surroundings and get eaten anyway. This is just a brand new critter that's met the deep frier.

Three's normal enough. Over six and hazardous things apparently happen to fuzzy critters, when they start to overrun the house.

Not to mention everywhere else. Did you see the news? We are being invaderated, sir.

Why not? They're there. And they didn't make my tummy feel funny or nothing, besides maybe...FULL? I haven't turned no colors, barfed up nothing, or had my head spin around in circles. Feel pretty fine. Maybe even could stand another beer.

They are TASTY critters, if prepared properly.

I am beyond serious. But then again, if you deep fry any sort of critter, besides maybe one of them toxic creatures or say...a dung beetles (wouldn't even be curious about that one), it's gonna be pretty tasty.

Skin it, one slice to gut it, give it a rinse and a pat down, buttermilk and seasoned flour to dredge it through, drop 'em in and give them a fry for about 8 minutes or so. Then you drain off the oil by throwing the critters on a paper towel.

Once you get a good pile of them? Crack open a cold beer, dunk 'em in some spicy BBQ sauce, and it's like the best damn chicken nugget you ever had.

No no, it's not bland. You have to dip it in the sauce, ma'am. Try it with the spicy sauce things I left in the fridge. It's that red stuff on the second shelf.

I wasn't sure if that was sauce, or some kind of bait.

Have you tried feeding these creatures themselves? Just to see if they would eat it.

Nope, that's sauce. Give it a try. Must've not seasoned down that batch well enough.

Ok, that? Feeding them to themselves? I think even I've got to admit that's maybe taking it too far!

You're a woman of questionable ideas. Once you get something in your head, then I imagine it's hard to persuade you to do anything else otherwise.

I think, though, you'd better not tell me the results of that particular experiment and try it out for yourself!

Excellent! I was just wondering how that would go and then looked down and saw your post. So they worked then? Would you consider them more on par with cooking chicken or cooking rats?

...I was thinking of stewing them, myself.

I've had squirrel before so...maybe like that just minus the bones. They're kinda squishy that way. It's like dealing with a chicken breast, covered in carpet. Once you get the fuzz off, though, and take a peek in there, it's not to hard to figure out what's what, and start pulling the parts out that don't look edible.

I mean, it's a critter. It's gotta take a crap and pass babies out of it. It ain't rocket science once you cut it open and take a peeksie inside.

Definitely needs seasoning though. If they ain't seasoned up enough, like Miss Raven said, they're a little on the bland side.

I actually even have directions for squirrel! Haven't cooked it myself, mostly because by the time I find them, they're roadkill. I mean flatsteak is one thing but not when the whole animal is mushed up like that. Had some once, and it was pretty decent.

So, okay. I can run with those ideas. As for spices, well, I've been wanting to play with my set of THOSE.
