Entry tags:greg house, tesla spencer

Who: Tesla and House
Where: Wherever they allow visits, but with House being a doctor, I bet he could get them anywhere he wants.
When: Earlier today
Warnings: Nada, they is well behaved, ok?

Being led to see a visitor had become the same thing, a nurse holding her wist guiding her to the same, bland, empty room to sit down with Shawn or Gus, or both, talk about what the doctors wanted her to talk to them about, hug Shawn (bst as she could) smile at Gus and go back to her room toglare at the peppy cheerleader who still gagged herself and wondered why she'd been in there for six months. Six months, please, God, don't let them keep me in here for six months.

She was surprised to walk into the room and see House, an then a bit of dry worry plagued her, so instead of saying 'Hello', the first thing to pop ot of her mouth was. . ."He's not dead, is he?"

House balked a little at the greeting, but recovered after a second, shaking his head with a small smile. "Um, no, sorry. I figured you could just use someone else to come give you a bit of sunshine in this hell-hole." The phrasing got him a glare from one of the nurses, but he just shrugged her off.

"So. How're things holding up on the inside?" He gave her an eyebrow waggle, trying for levity.

"Oh." She nodded, forcing a smile, seated, seated by the male nurse. She felt very much like a zombie, or something that could be better controled, maybe a robot. . .

She shrugged, fiddling with her hair, which was cut short, badly, too. Instead of listening to how to take her hair extensions out, they'd opted to chop them out.

"Failed my weigh-in yesterday, by like, a quarter of an ounce, so they made me eat this Kalteen bar, and I fet like throwing up. They called Shawn and told him they think I'm starving myself now because I refused dinnr last night, but they made meat loaf and I'm allergic to onions, and it was smothered in them and inside of it, so I didn't eat it." She shrugged, obviously not herself, her voice was hoarse because she refused to talk to many people.

"Didn't anyone bother to ask about your dietary restrictions?" He was talking down his nose, obviously underwhelmed with the facility in general. He looked... concerned, but thought better of bringing it up, trying to focus on something resembling a positive.

Not seeing one, he sighed, spinning his cane thoughtfully. "How are you holding up, kiddo?"

"Yeah, because we's a good place to stick ya kids, y'all!" Glaring at the male nurse she seemed disappointed that she showed no reaction, she sighed at House's question.

"I'm fine." Because no matter what she said, nothing could be fixed, so why bother complaining? She'd gotten herself into this mess, they said.

House gave her one of his better Looks, sighing. "Tess, you don't have to bullshit me. I've done rehab. There's nothing about this place that's fine. I do want to help."

She shrugged, reachingto cover her mouth, coughing softly, chest making a rattling sound from an undiagnosed upper respiratory infection. "You can't help, I did this to myself, I have an issue, I need to see I'm some beautiful, intelligent child of God with the world ahead of her and they'll let me go home just to get shot back to reality."

"I could get you something for the cough. I'm guessing that hurts?" Yes, he'd heard the rattling, sighing at the state of this place, if they couldn't even diagnose a respiratory infection.

"I know how awful playing along with the bullshit can be, but sometimes there's just not a better way." That got him a look by an approaching nurse, who stopped by to less-than-politely ask to speak to him privately. "Bite me, candy-striper." He couldn't help but smile at that; he'd been wanting to say that to one of his own rehab nurses.

She shrugged at that, nodding a little. "Yeah, a little."

That got a genuine smile out of her, and she laughed into her hand, coughing a little more. "I love that you don't even pretend to be nice. You're not down with conformity, that's cool." It was probably the most she'd said to anyone, aside from Reese and Joan online, in the week she'd been there.

She looked at him, then sighed. For whatever odd reason she always felt comfortable talking to him. "They tell me it's my fault and that I need to open up to people and shit, but, in reality who am I supposed to open up to, Shawn? They think I didn't try that?"

"I really should check out that cough of yours," He chose to focus on the respiratory infection for now, for reasons that would become apparent in a second, "I can't imagine them actually having a medical ward in this place?"

If he could get them to let him look her over as her PCP, he'd have some time to talk to her alone. Without the prying eyes of the nurses, trying to get him to feed her the 'puking is bad' party-line.

She scoffed, not at him, but at the thought of the place. "Sure they do, where do you think they weigh us and shove those stupid bars down our throats?" She pointed up the hall. "I'm so glad you took time out of your busy schedule to come see me, Dr. House." She said, louder than usual, so the nurse heard her and looked ready to shit himself, apologizing over and over, urging House and Tess to follow him to the small. .well, it was more like a nurse's office in a school than anything, he unlocked the door and nodded for House and Tess to go in.

He smiled at her shamelessness when it came to dropping names, standing as the nurse led them down the hall, "Well, obviously you've never been to real rehab. That's really all they do," Once they were let in the room, he shoo'd the still-apologetic looking nurse out, shutting the door behind him.

"There. Goddamn nannies were making me have flashbacks. So," He walked over to the counter, picking up the toy-esque stethoscope, looking at it with disdain. "Your throat is hurting, right? Or were you really that in tune to my ingenious plan?"

"Real rehab?" She snorted. "I'm not that cool, Doc. The worst thing I've ever done aside from gagging myself was almost have sex with a 21 year old. And . .then shamelessly tell my brother." She made a jokingly distressed face at that.

"Maybe both? I'll leave you in suspense." She chuckled. "Yeah, it hurts. Really sore, I told them and they checkd my temp, said I couldn't have strep and sent me back to bed."

"Don't worry, kid; hanging with addicts makes you one by association. My 'cool' is yours for the taking," He was obviosuly sarcastic, moving in to listen to her breathing before nodding. "Once again, my faith in other physicians has been shattered. That's textbook URI. You probably just didn't get the temperature as obviously, because they keep this place colder than the morgue." He moved back to the cupboards, shuffling through what they had in stock. "They've gotta have something... eh," He picked up a box of medicated coughdrops, tossing it to her, "Can't guarantee those are going to be much better, but they might help the pain until I can get you the good stuff,"

So, doctor-stuff taken care of, he backpedaled, remembering the 'sex-with-a-21-year-old' part. "That takes care of your throat. Should I be looking at the other end, on behalf of the 21-year old?" It was shameless, and slightly dirty, but the joke was evident on his face, and it was as good an ice-breaker as he had.

She chuckled at that, second smile of the day he'd stolen from her. She was still and complied as he listened, taking a few deep and shallow breaths for him. She took the drops, nodding. "Wont see me complaining." Opening the box she peeled one of the drops out of the foil and popped it into her mouth, sucked lightly at it, letting the medicine run down to coat her throat.

She looked up at him at that, pinkening to a deep blush before moving the drop on her mouth so she could speak without sounding like she'd bitte her tongue. "Um, not. . much to see down there, Doc. I said almost. I. .I haven't ever actually. .done the deed. If you have some weird photographic hymen collection, be my guest, I don't have much shame." She sighed deeply, the entire Reese situation was one of her biggest issues.

He smiled a little at the quip- he liked her attitude. "No, no, nothing like that. I'm- how do you kids put it- batting for the other team, now? My days as creepy young-girl molestor are over, sadly." He could read the sigh for what it was, nodding a little as he reached in his pocket for his flask, unscrewing the top and taking a drink.

"Don't get excited- it's just Coke. You're welcome to some, though, if you want," Sharing troubles over a flask- even if it was the PG version- was much more his speed, that asking flat out.

She eyeballed it, and decided that the fact that he was willing to share, was enough reason to be polite enough to nod, take it, and sip, before handing it back. "'s only molestation if she says no, Doc, and I flat out gave you permission." She winked playfully, sighing and easing back against the wall.

"It's so stupid, dumbest law ever invented, it's one thing to say 'old guys and ladies that rape little kids are bad and must go to jail', another to say 'anyone 18 having sex with anyone under 18 is raping them and should therefore go to jail', who is that protecting?" She shook her head. "And Shawn, he acts like he thinks I'm desperate to do it just because it's a risk or something, and I'm not. I've thought about it a lot and it still scares me to death, a little."

Greg nodded. "The law's bullshit. And, frankly, it's none of Shawn's business what you decide to do anymore. Between you and I, I still question his ability to make the most rational of decisions, every now and again. And something like sex-" He shrugged, taking another drink, "You've obviously thought about it. And the fact that you're scared shows you're being rational about it. So whatever it is you do decide, is going to be right, no matter how large a shit-fit Shawn or anyone else deicdes to throw over it." A beat, "But, look at it this way- he can't exactly throw a shit-fit over something he knows nothing about. The only people who have to know, are you and this 21-year-old of yours,"

Look at this, House giving reasonable advice. Something was obviously afoot with him- then again, she might not know him well enough to catch it. But at least she might get use out of his newfound wisdom

Tess nodded, debating on mentioning that the man in question was Mark' roommate, she decided it wasn't relevant, rather nodded some more. "God pretty much told me the same thing, except she was talking about love and junk, which I never brought up." The word certainly didn't give her the heebie jeebies like it did Shawn, but it wasn't one she was prepared to use yet.

It was odd in the sense of, Tess hadn't had a father growing up. It had been her and her Mom, and then one morning her Mo was gone and she got shoved into Shawn and Lassiter's home. Now, not only was she working to cop with having a brother and being his ward, but she had to cope with him being so emotionally stressed over his broken heart.

Bulimia had ben the breaking point.

"Lotta times I wish they'd stuck me in a foster home."

Greg scoffed a laugh at that. "I can't blame you. I have no idea how you live with the spaz," Smirking, he took another drink, doing his best to hide the fatherly tone in his next; "He's doing what he can. Lassiter leaving the first time fucked him up pretty bad, and this time... he's pretty much snapped. I- it's not a fucking excuse, but.. he needed something to obsess over, and unfortunately you got saddled with that. He does care, even if he has a really fucking odd way of showing it,"

"Don't see him a lot at home." She shrugged. "Since it happened he works as long as he can and stays out te doing God knows what, I've seen more of Gus than Shawn at home since Gus got here." She shrugged. "Way I see it, I graduate high school in two months, with the oher early graduation freaks, I'll pick a random major, go to college, and go from there. Shawn needs to work this out for himself, because I've tried to help and he pushes me away. I can't handle this crap, not all of it. Not dealing with my body and my boyfriend and school and work and my brother's issues with the L word. I can't even tell him I love him, House, he acts like I spit on him or something."

"It's probably for the best, considering what I see of him when he decides to talk to me," He just nodded along with the rest. "He's fucked up. At least you tried to help- even though I'm not sure anyone short of a professional could help him, right now. You're right, you need to focus on you."

She nodded, swallowing dryly, sighing deeply. "I just, I hate that he doesn't want to talk to me about it, or hear me say I love him. I hate that we're pretty much strangers. I always wanted a big brother growing up." She shrugged, finishing off the first of the cough drops, sighing. "Shit, I don't even know what I want to do with my life. Thye hate that here. 'What do you mean you don't know? What are you good at?'. Photographic memory doesn't do you much good unless you claim to be psychic and no one knows you aren't." She smiled dryly, running a hand through her hair.

Greg leaned back in the chair he'd slipped into, sighing and nodding. "Who the hell does what they think they want to at 17, anyway? When I was graduating high school, I wanted to be an archaeologist. And that was even before Indiana Jones made it sexy," He scoffed. "Just tell 'em you're gonna change your mind 50 times anyway, so why bother guessing? That should shut 'em up."

"Oh Indy's coming back too, only old, but that's aside the point." she cleared her throat and blushed a little. If there was ever doubt she was Shawn's younger sister before, that would have fixed it. "But um, yeah. Yeah, I guess. You'r right, I know it. I sort of. . had a couple idea, but, I mean nothing serious. So I just told them the one and they backed off." She shrugged. "I have the GPA to do anything. So I'm not worries. But anyhow." She really wanted to stop th heart to heart only because it was odd to have one. "How are things on your end, Doc?

"They've been better," He answered honestly, sighing as he leaned back to swivel the chair. "Ray's acting strange- I think he thinks I'm cheating on him, or something off the wall." He shrugged, "He'll break down and say something about it, eventually."

Tess looked amused at that but just nodded, not choosing to comment. "So long as it works out, that's what's important." Not that she had any expertise in that area. She eyed the scale in the corner and bit her lip, looking at the clock, sighing. "This is stupid, I gained back six pounds, I should be out of here."
