Who: Cuddy and Slevin
What: Him bringing her food
When: Yesterdayish
Where: Um.. I guess their house? Her house.
Warnings: Who knows

She wasn't quite sure why this guy she barely knew was bringing her food, but she supposed she didn't mind him coming over. If he wanted to help, who was she to turn it down. Besides, it wasn't like anyone else was offering to bring her food. Not even her kids. She was doing paperwork, and waiting when she heard the door and went to go get it.

Opening it up, Lisa gave the guy a look over. He was young. And cute. Great. Just what she needed. She just didn't know if she was being sarcastic with herself or not.

"Yeah my kids are pretty adamant about me never getting hurt again. They wouldn't let anyone in to see me at the hospital for fear I'd actually try and get someone to sneak me out. Which.. I did, so maybe they were right to do that," she smiled sheepishly.

She figured the nose thing was just a normal broken nose thing. Well three in one day she was curious about, but since he hadn't offered the information, she figured it wasn't her place to ask. "That's the way most things us doctors do is.."

"Why would you want to sneak out? Do you by any chance hate hospitals? I'd love a doctor who was scared of hospitals. That'd be fantastic."

He wondered how much he should tell her - he didn't want to tell her everything, to be sure, but he was sort of scared by how easy it was to stare at the curve of her mouth for far too long.

She grinned slightly, "No.. I don't hate hospitals.. not scared, I just had work to do. A hospital to rebuild.. and they weren't going to let me. Which I suppose is .. a good thing but still. I just .. can't lie there in bed and rest.. it's not in my nature.."

He looked like he wanted to tell her something, so she just ate her food and tried to look as neutral as possible. But he was staring at her. Hey at least he wasn't oogling her tits. She was used to that.

Slevin nodded. "I suppose that makes sense." He wiped off his mouth with a napkin, then stood. "What are you doing now?"

"I'm trying to .. make sure that things are getting built, and they're building things the right way. Mostly just.. supervision.. and buying stuff we need.. nothing exciting.. at least I don't think.." she pushed her hair back again.

"What about you?"

Slevin shook his head. "I meant right now, at exactly this second. We should go do something."

"Oh.. well right now.. nothing..I mean I was eating a second ago," she said cheekily. "Do something?" she raised an eyebrow. "Like what?"

"Dunno. We could go for a walk. Get some fresh air." He shrugged and ran his fingers through his hair again. He didn't know how to tell her that he wanted to stay at her place without actually coming out and saying it. But her company was easy. Not forced. Something to get used to.

"Sure.. a walk sounds good.. let me just write a note in case the kids come back and freak out cause I'm not here.." she picked up a paper and scribbled something down, leaving it with the rest of the food and then went to get her shoes on. "All right, I'm all yours.." this would be the point in time she really hoped he wasn't some psychopathic nut job.

Slevin offered her his arm after he'd put his coat and shoes back on. "So, straight off - I've got ataraxia, and you really concern me. Which concerns me. I'm wondering how much of my past to share. You mentioned we're fictional - what if I'm from something you can just pick up and see my past?"

He bit his lip, closing his eyes. That would be difficult to explain. And part of him felt guilty for not missing Lindsay quite as much as he should. But she was in that other world. He'd deal with his feelings after he figured out what he could and couldn't tell Lisa.

She slid her arm through his and raised an eyebrow, "Ataraxia?" she'd heard of the word but never quite like that. "And I concern you. So it concerns you?" was he really making any sense what so ever? She didn't quite know. "I'm sorry I'm.. concerning you. But I'm fine, honest. And.. if you're from.. a book or a tv show or something.. then it's probably here. I mean it's probably not you.. on the.. thing but.."

Though the more she thought about it, the more she could have almost remembered a movie with an odd name like that. She just couldn't put her finger on the title. "I'm not one to go snooping around into someone's past by watching those sort of things though. We can go into a store and you can look if you want.."

"Ataraxia is the condition of not being concerned by anything. And you concern me. Which is really quite concerning." He nodded hard at the idea of them walking to a video store - which in New York wouldn't take that long at all.

"That sounds like a good idea." He popped the collar on his jacket, smiling. He still hoped that maybe he was from something obscure that nobody would have heard of.

She wondered if she should tell him that wasn't an actual medical condition, but kept her mouth shut. "Well I must be in pretty bad shape then if I'm worrying you.." she didn't think that other people could see how bad she was. No one but Mia seemed to notice anyways.

"Sounds good then.." she knew where one was, so she started walking in that direction but didn't think there was any rush, "So how long did you live in New York?"

"Most of my life. The guy who took care of me growing up drove me around a lot, but we were based in New York." He moved his hand so that he was holding hers, a subtle gesture that he hoped she wouldn't notice too much.

She didn't really notice him holding her hand, hers slipping into his without much of a second thought. "Ah.. so.. no parents?" she gathered. Well he'd kind of brought it up. And it wasn't too bad asking right?

"They died." The words slipped out before he realized he was saying them, and he blinked in faint surprise. "They were murdered." He was almost mumbling to himself, and he shook his head to clear his mind of his parent's ghosts.

"Well, we're here at the video store. We'll see if you can just rent the whole story. If you can, I'll just tell you anyway, but still." He winced when he remembered that he'd spent his whole first encounter with the Boss wearing only a towel.

Lisa winced slightly, "Oh.. I'm sorry.." well that was good, bringing up murdered parents. She was a genius obviously, she scolded herself mentally. Should she warn him? About people showing up that were dead? She swallowed a bit.

"Yeah sure.. that's fine.. I'll even show you.. the .. thing I'm from.. you might be slightly amused.." she headed inside, "Slevin I... I feel like.. I should warn you. Sometimes.. the people that show up here? They.. well sometimes people who were dead before.. they.. show up here."

That actually made Slevin smile. "I'd like to see my parents again. I was young when they... were taken. So it's okay, that won't bother me."

And if the Boss or the Rabbi showed up, he'd deal with that too. He'd done it before.

He opened the door for her to the movie store, smiling faintly. "Do I get to watch you say medical jargon? Something about a woman who can say words that are mostly consonants gets me a bit worked up."

"Ah good.." she was glad that it wasn't freaking him out or anything. She smiled back, and headed inside the store. She wasn't quite sure where to start looking, if it was even a movie or a book. But she remembered a movie. Hm.

"You do actually.. though I'm just the boss. I don't get to say it as much as everyone else. I do get oggled alot though," she blushed faintly.

He headed for the movies first because that would be the most damaging. He figured the story would be a drama - there wasn't that much comedy in it - and he scanned the titles.

"Understandable," he murmured. "That they'd ogle you."

It was then that she realized she was still holding onto his hand. She was holding the hand of a guy she barely knew. Great. And she kept blushing when he complimented her, "Uh.. thanks.. I think.." she shrugged a bit.

When they passed the tv section, she picked out Home MD and passed it over, "It's ... House.. I mean Greg House.. not Greg Home.. he's here.. two of him actually.."

"Two?" Slevin found that if he just didn't think about anything Lisa told him, it was easier to understand.

"Huh." He shrugged and held onto the DVDs, cocking his head as they rounded a corner back into drama. His jaws dropped when he found it.

"... this really explains a lot."

"One came from like.. some.. alternate... universe.. there's doubles of some people.. from like.. two different points in their life.. it's fucked up.." she waved her hand.

She eyed the dvd and then him and then back at the dvd. Oh right. Yeah, that was it. "Uh.. do.. you want me to watch it?"

Slevin's throat was suddenly dry, so he just nodded. "Yeah. I do." He didn't know what he'd tell her about Lindsay - and he also didn't know why it was so important that she know.

But he wanted her to know things up front, from him, especially if she could just pick up a film and watch it.

Slowly she reached down and picked up the dvd and nodded, "All right then I'll watch it.." she could tell he was nervous about it. Obviously there were things he probably didn't want her to see.

What could she say? "I've seen.. a lot of .. fucked up stuff.. try not to worry so much.."
