Who: Cuddy and Slevin
What: Him bringing her food
When: Yesterdayish
Where: Um.. I guess their house? Her house.
Warnings: Who knows

She wasn't quite sure why this guy she barely knew was bringing her food, but she supposed she didn't mind him coming over. If he wanted to help, who was she to turn it down. Besides, it wasn't like anyone else was offering to bring her food. Not even her kids. She was doing paperwork, and waiting when she heard the door and went to go get it.

Opening it up, Lisa gave the guy a look over. He was young. And cute. Great. Just what she needed. She just didn't know if she was being sarcastic with herself or not.

Slevin went to the address that the woman had given him. He'd made a few peanut and butter sandwiches at his new apartment and picked up Chinese along the way.

Once the taxi driver was paid, he went to knock on the door and see if she was as pretty - and informative - in person.

After opening up the door, she smiled slightly. Ah right, she was supposed to be entertaining. "Hi.." she greeted, letting him inside. "I'm.. Lisa.. nice to.. meet you.." why did she just invite some random guy over? She had no idea. "Please.. come in.. and try not to mind the mess."

The mess really just equaled to teenagers. "Thanks for bringing food.."

Slevin gave a feeble little wave. "Slevin. It's nice to meet you. And it's no mess, really. The person I replaced was a bit of a pack rat, and I must admit, it's going to take a while to de-nest my place." He looked around for what roughly equaled the kitchen and went to set down the food.

"I brought some Chinese - really, just a few items off of the dinner menu - and peanut butter and jelly if you're not a fan of MSG and found food."

"That always seems to happen. I don't know how picks the people we replace, but some of them.. are horribly outrageous." thankfully hers hadn't been like that. But then she'd been here since the beginning. She followed him into the kitchen, showing him where to put things and then went to get plates and silverware out.

"Chinese and peanut butter and jelly.. can't say I've ever had that combination.. thank you.." she smirked, handing over a plate and figured he could help himself, like she was going to.

"I figured it would be sort of an either or thing, though I suppose peanut butter and jelly is sort of a dessert. Though I suppose unless you're a nutritionist, you might not know that."

He chuckled and ran his fingers through his hair. "I talk a lot. I'm sorry."

"Not a nutritionist, just a doctor.. but I'm sure it is. We'll see how much I feel like dessert after all this chinese.." she started putting food on her plate, and then put soy sauce all over it. Because she loved soy sauce.

"It's all right, really I'm used to it." she waved a hand.

Slevin watched her, cocking his head to the side and grinning. "You know sodium is bad for your blood pressure, right? ... I really shouldn't scold a doctor."

He took one of the sandwiches and pulled a knee to his chest, watching her eat. "So. Be my tour guide. What should I know?"

She smirked, "This is the least contributor to my blood pressure, trust me. When you work with the people I work with, your blood pressure would be through the roof before lunch.. I can eat my soy sauce if I want to.." she said pointedly.

"To New York or to this world in general? Because New york's one thing, but trying to figure out this crazy place is... crazy.." she started to eat, bringing her plate to the table, figuring it was okay if they ate at the table of course. No use in standing.

Slevin munched a bit before getting up to find a glass of water. "I'm not sure if my co-workers will be so bad. I'm sure the dead people won't annoy me."

He chewed and swallowed, trying not to let on that he a) had a lot of experience with dead people, b) found Lisa attractive, and c) didn't want her to know about issue a.

"I'm from New York, actually, so that's not a problem. Mostly the new universe. I like knowing things, knowledge is power and all that. Francis Bacon was smart, despite the horrible name."

She smiled, "Dead people rarely bother me too.. well until they come back from the dead and are zombies.. which by the way? Has happened here. So just.. watch out.." she was entirely serious too, that was the thing. She could kid about some things, but there was just shit you couldn't make up.

"Well then, besides the zombies.. let's see.. there's a good chance you're.. well not real. I apparently am a character in a television show, as are most people around here. Or a comic book, or a movie.. there's superheroes running around. Like... Superman.." she frowned slightly saying his name, "And .. others.. then there's God.." yeah it was a lot to explain.

"You just have to kind of.. try and go with it or your brain will explode."

Slevin wiped his mouth and blinked. "Zombies. Really. That's ... well, that's one thing I hadn't anticipated living through. And I've anticipated a lot of situations."

He blinked a little at the rest of her statement. "It's sort of like a resort for lost souls, then. That's poetic." He wiped his palms off on his pants.

"I think I won't think about it too much, yeah. So - why do you look so sad?" He ate some more sandwich, hoping that she would explain.

"Mm well it was more like.. Silent Hill.. ever play that video game? It took over London.. no one could get in or out.. it was horrible.. happened twice.." she said with a sigh.

"Yeah I guess you could say that. Never thought about it that way.. but sounds right.." she nodded a bit at him but was a bit startled at his question. "What? I'm.. no I'm fine. Well I was in the hospital until recently.. so I guess there's that."

"I'm not really a video game fan. And I guess I'm sort of glad I'm in New York."

He shrugged. "You just look a bit sad around the eyes. And are you okay? Being in the hospital is miserable." He pointed to his nose. "Once had that broken three times in one day."

Lisa waved a hand, "Oh I'm fine now.. well.. when the.. Apocalypse thing happened, and the hospital got demolished I was inside. I had.. well to be honest I had a lot of broken bones, and I had a .. piece of.. well a pole going through me.. but.. there are people around who can just heal you. And normally I'd sit and wait but I had to get the hospital up and running.. no time to just sit around.."

She winced, "Three times? Ouch..your poor nose. It looks okay though. They did a good job of fixing it."

Slevin's eyes went wide. "That's awesome, in the classical sense of being awed by something."

He shrugged at the comment about his nose. "I set it myself after the first couple of times. It's just a matter of popping it back into place, really."

She grinned, "Well thanks. Yeah it was pretty amazing. At least the getting healed part. The getting hurt wasn't so fun.."

Obviously glad she'd avoided the being sad question, she nodded, "You'd probably know best how it's supposed to look and all."

"You shouldn't get hurt so much anymore. I'm sure that your family feels the same way." He took out another sandwich and nibbled the crust.

"I do, and honestly, with a broken nose there's not much else to do. You just set it and pray." He was glad that she hadn't questioned how he'd broken the nose. Explaining that he'd had to fulfill a vendetta, and it had been trickier than he'd first expected - that would have just taken a long time. And it probably would have colored her feelings toward him, which he was surprised to find he cared about.

"Yeah my kids are pretty adamant about me never getting hurt again. They wouldn't let anyone in to see me at the hospital for fear I'd actually try and get someone to sneak me out. Which.. I did, so maybe they were right to do that," she smiled sheepishly.

She figured the nose thing was just a normal broken nose thing. Well three in one day she was curious about, but since he hadn't offered the information, she figured it wasn't her place to ask. "That's the way most things us doctors do is.."

"Why would you want to sneak out? Do you by any chance hate hospitals? I'd love a doctor who was scared of hospitals. That'd be fantastic."

He wondered how much he should tell her - he didn't want to tell her everything, to be sure, but he was sort of scared by how easy it was to stare at the curve of her mouth for far too long.

She grinned slightly, "No.. I don't hate hospitals.. not scared, I just had work to do. A hospital to rebuild.. and they weren't going to let me. Which I suppose is .. a good thing but still. I just .. can't lie there in bed and rest.. it's not in my nature.."

He looked like he wanted to tell her something, so she just ate her food and tried to look as neutral as possible. But he was staring at her. Hey at least he wasn't oogling her tits. She was used to that.

"I'm trying to .. make sure that things are getting built, and they're building things the right way. Mostly just.. supervision.. and buying stuff we need.. nothing exciting.. at least I don't think.." she pushed her hair back again.

"What about you?"

"Dunno. We could go for a walk. Get some fresh air." He shrugged and ran his fingers through his hair again. He didn't know how to tell her that he wanted to stay at her place without actually coming out and saying it. But her company was easy. Not forced. Something to get used to.
