Who: Michael Myers and Laurie Strode (and get this, neither is trying to kill the other!)
Where: Some random streetcorner in Los Angeles.
When: After dark.
Warnings: Dark themes, I'd say, mmm yep, makes sense.

Another fast moving car zipped past Laurie Strode, and she sunk deeper into the depths of the hoodie she'd changed in to, seeking comfort from the fast moving world that she wasn't at all familiar with. This most definitely was not Haddonfield and as much as she didn't want to believe the guy who'd slaughtered her two best friends and their boytoys, that is, if Annie had died after Laurie had appeared here, she didn't see how else this was possible. It was dark, so dark, but there was so much light from the hundreds of cars bunched on the road, it was the only thing keeping her from feeling absolutely terrified.

She was curled up in a ball on the sidewalk, her knees pulled tight to her chest as she watched people head home and head out to party. There weren't many pedestrians this time of day, and she didn't think Michael would be coming there via portkey with a car, so she was watching, basically, for a really big guy on foot. She huffed as she turned her head to look around, this was California, all the really big guys would be on foot if they heard a cute little female was sitting on a street corner, sure. She pushed the hoodie bravely away from her face, stained from the red spatters she had scrubbed off upon arrival. She'd found a set of clean clothes and some soap, so she'd gone into a restaurant bathroom to clean up.

Her eye was still a little off, cut around the outside, but it would heal in time. Some other cuts and bruises lined her skin, but she didn't pay them any mind, she was truly anxious to see her brother in person. A brother, she had a brother. She'd been right about the Strodes, nice people but. . .Well, you sort of noticed when you looked lik neither your mother or father and they didn't have pictures of you younger than a certain age. She'd never cared though, it was the only life she'd known and it was a good one. But now that wasn't the case, now there was so much more. Standing from her human ball she wrapped her arms against herself and sighed, looking around, eyes growing tired from the strain with their injury. Just a little whole longer, he said it eas magic, magic was instantaneous. . .right?

Magic may have been instantaneous, but the human will was not. Michael got as far as California without getting the urge to turn back, but once he stepped out into the California air, it all became somehow more real to him. He had to resist the urge to just turn around and go back. He was far too dangerous, both because of his mental issues and his current connection to an evil Outer God that wanted ritual sacrifices like an obsessive eater wanted snacks.

The urge came three more times as he followed the little map from his memory. Maybe it was due to his faulty wiring, maybe it was some innate talent, he wasn't sure, but he had a pretty good memory. Maybe not quite photographic, but close. After all, he still remembered the way to Haddonfield after years and years of being away.

So it didn't take him long to find her. It just took him a little longer to work up the nerve to approach her. He watched her from a nearby store, thinking on how brave she was for doing this. It was almost poetic, that someone so utterly psychotic could be related to someone so brave.

He also didn't think it would be easy to explain his wounds. He'd hidden the most obvious ones behind bandages, but some of the marks he'd been unable to stop carving into himself were still visible. Not to mention the original mark on his left forearm, like a horrible scar only black as coal.

Ultimately, Michael decided that if she could be brave enough to face all this, then he could be brave enough to go out there and do the same. He took a deep breath, stuffed his hands into the pockets of his jeans - he'd left the coat back at the hotel room in his haste to get moving - and proceeded out towards her. It would be new for her to see him in jeans and a t-shirt, let alone with a beard so thick it would have to be trimmed with a lawnmower.

He approached slowly, so as not to startle her. When he got close enough to see her, he inclined his head just slightly, and greeted her with a soft, "Hey."

Laurie was temporarily startled by the fact that a big burly bearded man had approached her, but it didn't take long for her to recognize his eyes. She found a soft little smile when she knew it was him and her nerves were temporarily relieved. Just a little.

"Um, hi." She replied softly, pushing some hair behind her ear, studying him with a frown. She decided bringing the marks up might not be the smartest thing to do, as curious and. . .oddly concerned, as she was. So after giving them a sweep, she met his gaze, chin held high. She had no reason to cower from him. . .yet.

"I'm really glad you're here." She said smoothly, voice soft with honesty. "I mean I know I don't kno you, or don't remember you, rather but. . knowing someone who cares is around helps." There, the painful part was over, she could pull past the embarrassment of that confession and get on with the night. "So. . ."

Michael just stared at her for a second. The sheer oddity of this whole situation overwhelmed him, and all his issues were momentarily forgotten. He'd never imagined those words coming out of her mouth after everything he'd done.

And then the smallest of smiles quirked up the corner of his mouth. While it wasn't the easiest thing to see through the beard, the beard itself twitched upwards, enough of a clue that the smile was there, underneath it. "I know what you mean." He thought of Del, and how she'd become his only real friend here. How he'd changed knowing that there was someone in the world that cared. "S'what older brothers are for," he added softly, not without a little wonder at actually being able to say that at all.

He decided not to bring up the eye. He would later, but right now he knew they needed to talk about a few basic things first. "So, do you wanna go somewhere and talk? I saw a place not too far down. One of those all night diners. Probably not the greatest food, but..." He hadn't even asked if she was hungry. "Uh, if you're hungry, I mean." He would get around to the subject of what she wanted to do about her living situation once he figured out if she wanted to go somewhere else to talk.

And that little smile? Mysterious as it was, made the whole situation seem a lot more natural. That's what big brothers are for. That made her smile shyly, she glanced at her feet a moment before smiling back up at him. "That's kind of cool. . big brother. Yeah, I like that." She was suddenly overwhelmed with a voice she had heard in her dreams throughout her childhood, she'd once brushed it off as just a figment of imagination.

"Happy Halloween, Boo."

She swallowed as dull, warm realization oozed into the pit of her stomach. This was no joke. It was no laughing matter. He was really, truly her brother. She'd believed him before but now. .now she knew. Now she knew for herself. She decided not to mention it. Rubbing her arms through the warm material of the hoodi out of nervous habit. "I am a little hungry, and you're right, I guess we do need to talk about some things."

She paused, not knowing exactly how to go about this next bit but she looked off into the direction he had motioned in where the diner was. She looked at him once more, bending her arm hesitantly to offer it to him to link with his. Laurie, tho easily frightened, had always been a rather easy-going child. She figured if he didn't want to, he didn't have to, but it was polite to offer, and deep down she was looking to find what sort of contact between the two of them was comfortable. Deep down she was beginning to find some trust for him. She knew she just had to be careful with it.

Michael really wasn't prepared for any of this. Not in his wildest dreams did he think she would actually be willing to even hear him out. This was almost too much, but if there was one thing Michael knew, it was not to look a gift horse in the mouth. It was even enough to get his mind off of Azathoth, at least for now.

He made the decision to stop questioning this and let it happen. He hadn't eradicated his nervousness, but at least he could come to a decision one way or the other and act accordingly. With that in mind, he carefully linked his arm with hers and nodded in the direction of the diner. "When we get there, order whatever you want. My treat." He couldn't keep the little smile off his face now. This was the first time in months things in his life were actually looking up.

Laurie watched him in that brief moment of pause, and she could see he was full of so much, so many things that she in reality would never ber able to comprehend. She'd just met him, just been chased by him, and suddenly she was here, and he was her brother. It was scary, and in that, comforting to know something about herself. To know once, she had had a big family, even if it hadn't worked out. She felt sorry for her mother, her real mother suddenly. How sad it must have been to lose two of her children in such horrible ways.

Question bubbled in her as to why she would then take her life with a baby still in her care, but she quickly reminded herself someone that griefstricken probably wouldn't be up for parent of the year. Her face reflected her thoughtfulness, but did not show any sign of fear, or anger. Just thought, his words brought that happy little smile back to her face and she nodded. "That's really nice of you, thanks. I'll return the favor some day."

Michael waved it off with his other hand, drawing it out of his pocket to do so and dropping it back into his pocket once he'd done it. "Don't worry about it. You're already doing more than you know." He paused again, a thoughtful look passing over his face as well, and then he glanced down at her briefly. "If you have any questions, I'll try to answer them. Some things I probably don't know, considering I was institutionalized for a while, but if I can answer a question, I will."

"Gosh, I don't know." She shrugged a little. "I mean I could probably fire off millions of questions and you could answer them and. . I dunno. I think I habe to just adjust to this, is knoweledge this. . I don't know." She laughed softly at herself and was quiet for a few minutes before looking at him. "What was she like?"

He'd had a feeling that question would be the first one. He took a few seconds to have a mental debate on how to phrase it, and then just decided that he would tell most of the truth. "After dad died, mom had to take a pretty bad job." He didn't tell her what that job was specifically, but the grimace on his face as he said the word 'job' probably made it pretty clear that it wasn't the most tasteful thing in the world. "Before then, she was really...not hyper, but full of energy and life. Even afterwards, she tried to pretend, but it was just so exhausting for her. She would do anything for us, though. She always made sure we had everything we needed, no matter what sacrifices she had to make."

His eyes were half-glazed in remembrance, and his voice had taken on the wistful quality of someone talking about fond memories of better days. "She was beautiful, inside and out. She always believed the best in most people, which I guess is why she ended up in so many shitty relationships." He shook his head, snapping out of his memories, and finished, "Probably the best mom ever, but she was too optimistic. I got in trouble a lot, and people tried to tell her I needed help, but..." He shrugged a little and shook his head. "I don't blame her for it. All the stress she was under, she just wanted to believe that her kids were all okay."

She listened to him, her own eyes filling with warm tears of sadness. Sadness at never having known her herself. She bit them back, and managed to get rid of the urge to just start crying before she nodded. "She sounds. . she does sound like the best mom ever." She said softly, giving his arm a pat with her free hand. "She obviously loved you a lot." Well duh, that was a Mom thing.

She clutched the arm linked with hers tightly for a few minutes as they walked, sighing. "Wish she would have been a little bit stronger, maybe long enough so I'd remember her. I don't remember nay of them, you." Although that wasn't entirely true, but she honestly didn't remember what he'd look like.

Michael shook his head a little at that. "After everything I put her through, and everything she already had to deal with..." He really couldn't finish that sentence, but he thought she'd be able to figure out what he meant. "I don't know if anyone would be able to take that, really." Even if he wasn't already full of issues, he wouldn't be able to take something like that. "I understand what you mean, though. I'd take you to her grave, but...well, it's not here, and you've already seen the headstone." He paused for a second, almost deciding not to mention it, but then he forged ahead anyway. "In the basement. It was in there."

"Yeah, I remember." She said softly, wanting to push that night out of her mind, at least until she had something in her growling gut. She was quiet again, for a moment. "I know you've done some really sh..crappy stuff, Michael, but um." she paused, trying to think how to word things. "Well and that things suck for you right now but. . I just. .I really don't want to lose my big brother when I only just found him." She looked up at him, managing a small smile. "I mean, that wouldn't be right, family's supposed to stick together and, well, I mean I'm not feeling the need to blow my brains out, so, I think we'll be ok."
