Michael just stared at her for a second. The sheer oddity of this whole situation overwhelmed him, and all his issues were momentarily forgotten. He'd never imagined those words coming out of her mouth after everything he'd done.
And then the smallest of smiles quirked up the corner of his mouth. While it wasn't the easiest thing to see through the beard, the beard itself twitched upwards, enough of a clue that the smile was there, underneath it. "I know what you mean." He thought of Del, and how she'd become his only real friend here. How he'd changed knowing that there was someone in the world that cared. "S'what older brothers are for," he added softly, not without a little wonder at actually being able to say that at all.
He decided not to bring up the eye. He would later, but right now he knew they needed to talk about a few basic things first. "So, do you wanna go somewhere and talk? I saw a place not too far down. One of those all night diners. Probably not the greatest food, but..." He hadn't even asked if she was hungry. "Uh, if you're hungry, I mean." He would get around to the subject of what she wanted to do about her living situation once he figured out if she wanted to go somewhere else to talk.
