It seems that an extraordinary localized disturbance in both weather and space-time has resulted in my relocation to what appears to be Earth, several hundreds of years before my own time.

Fascinating.

I infer from the natural ease with which the technology of this time has led me to this text-based forum that mine is not an unheard-of experience.

[OOC: Please do continue to tag through tomorrow. I know probably not many people are up right now, but Spock mun keeps very strange hours and needs something to do during work. And please do forgive me for disappearing at random and answering slowly. I have work and school and ADD. :P]

I have. I would have come a long way even if my travels had not landed me here.

My name is usual enough for my time and place of birth. And if my manner of relocation is not unheard of, I wonder if you might be willing and able to enlighten me as to the best course of action from here?

I suppose that is true. Intergalactic travel hasn't been invented yet, nor in my personal lifetime, so I'm afraid I can't fathom it.

I can try, Spock. Have you read the [website]? If so, I would check your pockets for identification.

I have read it just now. I see that my pockets do contain identification and what appears to be a number of plastic cards for various purposes, all belonging to a person who is not myself. Am I to understand, then, that I have replaced this individual, and that all of his belongings including his place of residence are now mine?

Correct. If you tell me what pictures the cards have on them, I can assist you with what purpose they serve.

Some of them have bar codes. An outdated technology, but I suppose the only efficient option in this world. They bear names I assume to be those of businesses. Are these some sort of currency?

I have two other cards with a series of numbers on the front, and a magnetic strip on the back. I am unable to determine what purpose these serve.

Correct. The business institutions keep track of how actual currency you would have used to purchase goods with them, and at a later point, you repay the businesses the currency with an additional fee.

They may be keys for doors or something. Do you have anything with a photo on it?

I see.

Yes, I do. Would I be correct in assuming that this world has somehow reassigned my identity in order for me to have a place in it?

Correct. Furthermore, if there's an address, it's likely your home.
