The new orders from Shackebolt are at least as disturbing as a lot of the other things that have been happening. Yeah, it's typical to pass off missing persons to someone else, but that's usually in a pretty casual way. Not this checking against files and then forwarding it and pretending it never happened. What the hell's going on? Are we being phased away from DMU and this is them putting up some  I don't know, some kind of Berlin wall between us? Or is it something to do with the disappearances themselves that they're suddenly beyond our clearance level? They're not  maybe covering up murders by either Death Eaters or that other lot, are they? I know people are scared, but I'm not sure lying to them is the answer. What happens if everything comes out later on? It will be so much worse than anything we could imagine now.

I'll never understand nostalgia. The past was not that great. People are so intent on only remembering the shiny parts and trying to dig up the past that they're self-fulfilling the "doomed to repeat history if we don't learn from it" saying. We've learned nothing; there were no good ol' days. Enjoy living in the now for once, and maybe it won't seem so bleak. There are a lot of people who your "good ol' days" killed who don't have that opportunity.

Neither Scrimegour nor I were aware these discussions would be announced to the media before any decisions had been finalised and DMLE personnel informed ahead of time.

Should the possibility come to pass, be assured that no one will lose their livelihood. We are coordinating with the DMU and other departments in the Ministry (e.g. as mentioned in the Daily Prophet, a specialised task force within the Beast division for those who wish to remain on werewolf capture duties) to open up several positions within the department for Hitwizards who wish to transfer.

However, you are all highly trained officers, most of you with several years of hard won experience. In light of the recent re-emergence and escape of several Death Eaters, the DMLE will be opening up several positions within the Auror division for Hitwizards who wish to pursue the additional training and assessment.

I actually think it might really be James Potter. Not enough to say so in public though, I mean, it could be that his friends are ringleading whatever this is. But if there wasn't a body... well, it's possible. I don't know.

The more worrying thing is what this is. Whether it's Potter or his friends, they're calling for civil war. There's no cutesying it up, that's basically the gist of it. I can't remember how old these guys are but surely they finished school early enough to remember the worst bits of the last war we had. I'm the last generation for ages who got to grow up thinking Britain would never, ever have civil war, that that was something that only happened in far away places. The idea that it wasn't even a one-off is terrifying. If they have grievances there has got to be a better way to address them. This can't be our first resort.
