The news from England is so dismal I have begun to ponder the idea of taking up my Mother's homeland instead of that of my youth.

It never gets very far as despite my mother's influence, I should never be thoroughly comfortable in France, and yet...

The Poison in the Cauldron is turned into the editor. An August release, or so they claim. It cannot possibly be enough time to do a decent editing job, but then is that really the point. And they already clamour for another...

Let us hope this sells as well as the last one.

I cannot help but feel that there is something good to be said for a society when a bookstore is full of people and it is not the beginning of a new Hogwarts year, or the release of Gilderoy Lockhart's newest make-up your own adventure volume.

[Narcissa]
I plan on taking Theodore to France to visit with Prisca, and with my mother's relatives, probably for a week, maybe two. When I return, I was hoping that perhaps Theodore and Draco could spend some time together this summer. Would that work in your schedule, potentially?

Hello, dears. We haven't spoken in quite some while.

[PETER PETTIGREW]
Peter, I received your missive regarding the Order's knowledge of the horcruxes which salvaged our great and dread Lord from the vestiges of death. You were good to come to me with this knowledge, Peter. And because of your close proximity to not only the Order but to the scum sucking blood traitors that are Sirius Black and James Potter, I lay this task at your feet.

You must bring them to a grinding halt. And, further, you are the only one well-placed to do this. While I should think a swift and thorough strike to kill them all at once would successfully clear our path I am open to a further discussion of your thoughts. Explain to me the best way to take the Order and clear a path for we righteous few to take our place once again.

[DEATH EATERS]
Doubtless you know that we cannot fail. Because we did not find the diadem, we must continue to search. One Horcrux in enemy hands is one too many.

Soon, we will be able to bring him back to the fullness of his physical form. And with the Horcruxes, our Lord shall never perish. Look to your tasks.

[NARCISSA]
You need not worry after Draco at Hogwarts.

How can I allow my son to attend Hogwarts when so many dangerous incidents have been allowed to occur on or near the school? What happened to Hogwarts being an impenetrable stronghold? What does the Headmaster have to say for himself?

As current and future parents of Hogwarts students, surely there can be someone to whom we can appeal for this entirely unacceptable situation.

The train from Hogwarts cannot arrive soon enough. My birthday was an annoyance in school because it reminded everyone that I was the youngest. Now it's because it reminds me I haven't seen my daughter since Easter. I wonder if there's much more lonely than a special occasion when your whole family isn't present.and goodness only knows what is happening at that school At least she will be home soon.

[Narcissa, Mr Nott]
I admit I'm less than happy to learn there was a security breach at Hogwarts from my mother after she read it in the newspaper. Whether it was students or not,  I'm  not sure, with everything that's been happening, whether it might be better for Gracie to take her exams at a different school. They're two years away still, but fourth year leads into fifth

I picked up my quill yesterday and began to put together some notes I had made regarding conflicting accounts of Magical and Muggle relationship during the post-Arthurian era. It's fascinating to review the primary texts and see such desperately dissimilar accounts. It is the work of the historian to review those accounts and determine which one gives weight to - or if one must give weight to both in the end. It is not a task anyone should take lightly.

[WARD: PRIVATE]
I have reviewed it a dozen times. Ran every spell I can think of to trace it, and it has left me - bewildered.

It is pointless to ask who, there are any number of people, but Prisca being in France was to keep her safer... to allow her the opportunity to learn and to grow in a way she could not here. And while her Aunt is aware of the situation, she is unable to give any light to who or what.

Perhaps it is time to bring her home for the summer. She may not prefer it, but it would give her an opportunity to interact with Theodore in a way she has not for years... Yes. I think that it must be done.

Oh, for pity's sake. I'm sure most people were aware on some level that the Ministry was monitoring this network, but that little warning is rather overbearing. It does, however, justify my caution against speaking openly with Bellatrix, even under wards. I cannot imagine there is much they're able to do against her, being here not entirely legally, but there's certainly a lot that would make my life more difficult. Though I do wonder what, if anything, prompted this. Death Eater escapees? Sexually charged double entendres? Criminal activity? 'Inappropriate' is somewhat open to interpretation.

The summer competition season will be starting soon and as disappointing as it is to have to carefully pick and choose which events I'll be able to attend I couldn't be looking forward to it more. If nothing else, it's always an excellent chance to catch up with acquaintances from the continent, and with renewed peace in both Lebanon and Morocco the field may well be a little wider this year. It's hard to say sometimes, with horses; it takes a few years for them to reach peak form, so undoubtably the middle of the decade will see a greater challenge, but there will be some born during the later years of their civil wars that managed to be unaffected.

It does not matter how old one's children get, receiving mail from them is always a delight. My youngest daughter, particularly, lives in France with her great Aunt and I see her so infrequently, that an Owl is something treasured.

Sometimes I wake and I do not recognize this world that has been brought upon us by Dumbledore's vanity and foolishness. We were right to fear him - he's essentially castrated our society and is slowly squeezing the lifeblood out of it.

Sometimes I fear that if we are not careful there will be nothing left of our history and our tradition, that we might well just go and live among Muggles for at least then we can learn their primitive ways of protecting themselves against threats perceived or real. Perhaps I ought to send Theodore elsewhere from Hogwarts.

What is the point of being magical if, when practising magic, you are incarcerated and find for it? Your government is making you no better than the Muggles to which they so richly cleave. And if you had ever worried that magic would flee Britain, you only need now see ... that it will.

And you have Albus Dumbledore to thank for that.

For making pathetic Muggles out of you.
