Nell Abbot: Waiting
Subject: Waiting for clients

Nell had expected everything would change if Harry ever told him he loved him. That somehow he would be different and the world might suddenly be more colourful and bright. He’d wondered if Harry might refuse him working, but there’d been no talk on it and Nell felt, even if he had asked, he wouldn’t have wanted to give up the job. He felt a sense of loyalty to his regular clients. They needed him. Why look at Demetri! His lover had died and Nell was his comfort.

Settling on his bed Nell looked towards the door, wondering who he’d be seeing tonight. Antoine had promised to visit soon and Nell had planned a hero’s welcome for him. The Ambassador had also given his word to visit as soon as possible, and then there was dear Demetri. Or maybe there would be a new man, a new client with his own reasons and secrets for visiting Nell.

Demetri had made his way to the Bridge Theatre, very much looking forward to seeing Nell. He had not forgotten his promise at the Ball and besides just wanting to see Nell, he wanted to see how he was too. Plus he'd finished the book of sketching and doodles that he'd wanted to give the young boy. His artistic skill was no where near Lucas' or quite successful artists, but Demetri thought they were good, and though Nell would like them.

He knocked at the door and once let in, moved through the lobby and down to Nell's door. Pausing for a moment to make sure he was presentable, Demetri knocked softly on Nell's door.

	Nell glanced up, looking at the door and he ran a hand through his hair quickly, snatching a quick look in the broken mirror on his dressing table to check he looked presentable. 	He tried the door knob and smiled as he opened the door and saw Nell there. "Hello Nell." Demetri shut the door but didn't move closer. He wasn't sure how things between them would be. Demetri smiled at Nell and reached into his coat pocket. "It's nothing fancy but I thought you'd like it," he said handing over the journal of sketches. "Just something I did, thinking of you." It was full of images of Nell and places around London and images of Blake Estate and all the grounds. "I'm afraid I keep forgetting to ask you what you like and am left thinking of things I'd like to give you on my own."

Nell took the journal, flicking through the pages - a smile growing on his face. He glanced up at Demetri. "These are wonderful. You didn't tell me you could draw! And you did these of me from memory? They are so good! If you like I shall have to have Harry set up an easel so you can draw me properly." He said, fingers tracing over the sketch he had stopped on. "I like this, Demetri. It's beautiful. Oh, is that the theatre?" He turned the page, frowning a little. "I'm afraid I do not know this house although it appears very grand."

He sat and watched Nell look through the book, loving to see him so happy at it. "It's just something I do when I have free time. I never thought I was that good but I thought you'd like it." Demetri smiled. "I think I'd rather like drawing her proper." He looked down at the picture Nell had stopped on and smiled. "No, not the Theatre. That's Blake Estate - my family's home. It's where I grew up."

	Demetri smiled and looked at the other. "I do spend quite a bit of time there; I don't mind the travel. But I do prefer London for most of the time since business keeps me busy here. And even if it didn't, I think you are far worth the cost if I were to bring you to the country. Let's just say things in London do well to keep me in the city." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"Well, of course I want to see it." Nell said, letting himself be kissed, rather pleased by how well the situation seemed to have gone. He had been so frightened when Demetri had seen him at the party, seen how weak he could be for money and how silly, especially with a man Demetri so despised but it was clear he hadn't given him enough credit. The awful events had served to draw them closer. "I'm sure it will be the most wonderful drawing of me ever done."

It was but a moment and then Demetri leaned in more and kissed Nell. He had wanted to make sure he was alright after everything, and part of him had been nervous that Nell wouldn't want to see him despite what he'd said. But Demetri knew now things were alright. "I think you give me far too much credit where my artistic abilities lie, but I would be quite pleased to draw you no matter what."

	"I do not!" Nell said, reaching to pull the journal Demetri had brought him towards them. "These are so good. I wish I had some sort of talent like that - I mean, Harry says I can act and sing but that's not what's bring everyone in, and what I can do well isn't really a talent you can show people unless it's privately." Demetri was quite surprised by Nell's outburst, but he smiled because it was such a heart-felt compliment. "Have you never thought to take lessons? I bet you could learn. I don't think *I* would make a good teacher, but there are some truly wonderful artists in London who could." He took the book again from Nell's hands and leaned past him to place it on the table.

Demetri sat back on the bed and pulled Nell to him. "You sing and act beautifully, Harry is right about that. And I can laud great praise about your other talent having happily enjoyed them firsthand," he said with a smirk. "Don't be anyone but yourself Nell, whoever that person is. Be him, because he's pretty special." He kissed Nell again this time with far more emotion than last time.

"Really? I'd love to learn. Although I don't know if we could afford lessons." He said softly.

Nell blushed, rather enjoying the compliment. "I am very pleased to know you like me the way I am. I would hardly want to pretend to be anyone else when you came to see me as I far like you the way you are too." He whispered, stroking his fingers through Demetri's hair.

Really. I have a few friends I could speak to. Let me see if I can't find out something for you," Demetri said looking at Nell.

Demetri reached up and cupped his cheek, smiling at the blushing. "I spend a lot of my time not being myself so getting to do that with you, it makes me very happy." He sighed, almost purred as Nell's fingers moved through his hair.

A worried look came over his face as he chose his words carefully. "The ball wasn't that long ago. Are you quite.... okay to continue? I will pay for my time no matter what, so please don't feel obligated if you aren't recovered from that night. I would hate myself if I hurt your further."
