Subject: Waiting for clients

Nell had expected everything would change if Harry ever told him he loved him. That somehow he would be different and the world might suddenly be more colourful and bright. He’d wondered if Harry might refuse him working, but there’d been no talk on it and Nell felt, even if he had asked, he wouldn’t have wanted to give up the job. He felt a sense of loyalty to his regular clients. They needed him. Why look at Demetri! His lover had died and Nell was his comfort.

Settling on his bed Nell looked towards the door, wondering who he’d be seeing tonight. Antoine had promised to visit soon and Nell had planned a hero’s welcome for him. The Ambassador had also given his word to visit as soon as possible, and then there was dear Demetri. Or maybe there would be a new man, a new client with his own reasons and secrets for visiting Nell.

	Demetri smiled and looked at the other. "I do spend quite a bit of time there; I don't mind the travel. But I do prefer London for most of the time since business keeps me busy here. And even if it didn't, I think you are far worth the cost if I were to bring you to the country. Let's just say things in London do well to keep me in the city." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Demetri laughed. "Well let's see. Diamonds are obvious. EVERYone has those." He scrunched up his face, pretending to concentrate very hard. "Perhaps an emerald. Bright deep green, set in a silver pendant on a silver chain. How would that suit you?" (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Demetri reached up and stroked Nell's hair and smiled. "It would be all mine. I would be too selfish to share it with anyone, except maybe you if you wanted to see it." He leaned in and kissed Nell soft but firmly. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"Well, of course I want to see it." Nell said, letting himself be kissed, rather pleased by how well the situation seemed to have gone. He had been so frightened when Demetri had seen him at the party, seen how weak he could be for money and how silly, especially with a man Demetri so despised but it was clear he hadn't given him enough credit. The awful events had served to draw them closer. "I'm sure it will be the most wonderful drawing of me ever done."

It was but a moment and then Demetri leaned in more and kissed Nell. He had wanted to make sure he was alright after everything, and part of him had been nervous that Nell wouldn't want to see him despite what he'd said. But Demetri knew now things were alright. "I think you give me far too much credit where my artistic abilities lie, but I would be quite pleased to draw you no matter what."

	"I do not!" Nell said, reaching to pull the journal Demetri had brought him towards them. "These are so good. I wish I had some sort of talent like that - I mean, Harry says I can act and sing but that's not what's bring everyone in, and what I can do well isn't really a talent you can show people unless it's privately." Demetri was quite surprised by Nell's outburst, but he smiled because it was such a heart-felt compliment. "Have you never thought to take lessons? I bet you could learn. I don't think *I* would make a good teacher, but there are some truly wonderful artists in London who could." He took the book again from Nell's hands and leaned past him to place it on the table.

Demetri sat back on the bed and pulled Nell to him. "You sing and act beautifully, Harry is right about that. And I can laud great praise about your other talent having happily enjoyed them firsthand," he said with a smirk. "Don't be anyone but yourself Nell, whoever that person is. Be him, because he's pretty special." He kissed Nell again this time with far more emotion than last time.

"Really? I'd love to learn. Although I don't know if we could afford lessons." He said softly.

Nell blushed, rather enjoying the compliment. "I am very pleased to know you like me the way I am. I would hardly want to pretend to be anyone else when you came to see me as I far like you the way you are too." He whispered, stroking his fingers through Demetri's hair.

Really. I have a few friends I could speak to. Let me see if I can't find out something for you," Demetri said looking at Nell.

Demetri reached up and cupped his cheek, smiling at the blushing. "I spend a lot of my time not being myself so getting to do that with you, it makes me very happy." He sighed, almost purred as Nell's fingers moved through his hair.

A worried look came over his face as he chose his words carefully. "The ball wasn't that long ago. Are you quite.... okay to continue? I will pay for my time no matter what, so please don't feel obligated if you aren't recovered from that night. I would hate myself if I hurt your further."

	"You would do that? Really? Oh thank you!" Nell said, hugging Demetri tightly. Nell turned away a little, rather embarressed that Demetri had brought that up. "No, I'm fine. The bruises are all but faded and he didn't...he didn't do anything else you'd need to worry about." He promised, taking Demetri's hand and locking their fingers together. "If it would make you happy then yes, it would please me to do that for you," Demetri said barely having time to get the words out before Nell hugged him.

He felt bad for having said the words but he needed to know. He pet Nell's hair again softly. "I do not mean to hurt you by asking, and I hope you understand why I asked. Now let that be the last we mention of it." Demetri took Nell's hand and squeezed his hand back. "And I think we might be more comfortable with... less clothing," he added with a grin as he leaned in and kissed Nell just under his earlobe.

	Nell shivered, pulling away just a little so he could begin to undress. "I do understand, and it was kind of you to ask me. 	Demetri grinned and stood as well, taking off his coat and folding it over the nearby chair before starting on his waistcoat, cravat and shirt, all piling up on top of his jacket. He could help but watch Nell, slowing his own actions to do so. The bruising could still be seen but only slightly, and certainly didn't take away from Nell's beauty. 	It was such a relief to hear Demetri say that. Nell wished he didn't need the reassurance so much but after everything that had happened he simply wanted to feel safe, and secure, and Demetri was so kind in his words and his thoughts. Nell leant into the kiss, stroking his fingers over Demetri's shoulder, feeling how warm his skin was, another reassurance. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	He smiled and rolled them both more on to the bed. Demetri grinned at Nell, stroking a hand over his side and down his hip. "I think that I want to kiss you a lot more and then roll you on your stomach and make love to you long and slow," he said, and grinned even wider. "Unless you have any objections to that at all?"
