Christopher was in a broody mood, and so he had taken the time to walk out in the gardens surrounding his estate and taking a moment to stop by the lake. It was rather secluded, in the nook of the grounds concealed by weeping willows and holly bushes which had been his Helene's favourite. The memories of that woman were at the forefront of his mind, brought about only by Thérèse's almost-kissing the previous night. With a pang of regret he realised he had wanted to follow through.
He sat on the bench and gazed out at the water, sighing in his solitary moment. It was wrong to want to kiss someone he was only due to betray, wrong to get involved. Dangerous for them both and certainly not right to lead her along. He would have to inform the authorities sooner than planned...
