If Thérèse hadn't been so damn scared, she would've screamed in frustration. As it was, her screams were ones of 'oh my god, I'm drowning', and she choked a few times, swallowing gulpfuls of water. She slipped under, fighting an imaginary adversary, but when she felt Christopher's strong arms around her, she stopped fighting, knowing that struggling would just make his job harder.
She let him pull her, trying to kick her legs to help him, but she couldn't help panicking and so it wasn't working very well. "Chris! Chris, Chris, help me..." She clung to him, tears in her eyes, the shock from the fall and the cold keeping her from all-out crying. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so clumsy..."
