It was true, all those things she said, and they had happened in rapid succession but it was not really anything that Christopher minded. Just mere quirks of a woman staying at his house, a woman he had grown fond of, a woman who he would eventually have to turn over... Christopher frowned and immediately squeezed her shoulder, focusing on her questions. "I don't know what else to be around you, Thérèse - I am just myself. If I am kind then I thank my lucky stars for I would not expect you to tolerate any untoward behaviour - seeing as you are living under my roof I find there is no way to be anything but civil at least and you deserve my kindness... because you asked for it."
He took a breath, sighing deeply, matching her gaze. "You have been a bright spark to lighten up my otherwise grey days. While everyone has been civil but distant you have been a grand companion."
