Things had changed quite suddenly, Grey had no idea what it was but any doubts she'd had concerning her feelings for Malcolm had just disappeared. The way she felt about him was blindingly obvious. He was the love of her life, pure and simple and there was no point in pretending otherwise, and she wasn't going to. No now was the time for a grand gesture, the time for her to show him in no uncertain terms exactly how she felt about him, quite how she hadn't done it before now was beyond her, because it was so, so obvious. This was what had to happen, this was fate, they were fate. No was no point in wasting anymore time. She knew what she wanted, and she was going to get it. She'd made an excuse about needing to deal with club, since it had been out of use for quite some time, then she'd headed back into the city, looking through every shop that looked like it might sell rings. She wasn't entirely sure what she was looking for, but she was sure she'd know the moment she saw it. And she had. The perfect ring. With that taken care of she'd returned to the club and set to work on the rest of her plans, putting together a mix CD for Malcolm, something for him to keep but always the soundtrack to her plans. It was more difficult than she'd imagined, there was so much she wanted to say and it was difficult to find the right songs, ones that said exactly how she felt, because Grey wasn't always very good with words, she only hoped Malcolm would appreciate the sentiment that he'd understand what it all meant, and that he'd like it. The lights in the club were turned down low and there were lit candles in all the booths and on the bar, along with scattered dark red rose petals. She'd poured Malcolm a glass of the most expensive whiskey she could find and a vodka and tonic for herself. She wasn't sure if any of this was enough, really she hadn't had enough time to make things perfect, but she couldn't wait any longer, she felt like she might just explode if she didn't get the words out, if she didn't ask him as soon as possible. |
