Things had been different. They'd both felt the shift. He'd always loved her, but it was as though he suddenly realised that that was all that mattered in the world. What use were worries? What was the point in hiding it from anyone? He wanted to shout it from the rooftops. He wanted to tell her how much he loved her, repeatedly, just to make sure she never forgot it. She deserved to know just how wonderful she was. He felt giddy with love.
And he did miss her, despite hardly having been separated, so when she said she had a surprise for him at the club he hadn't hesitated at all. He'd even ran the last few yards like an absolute idiot, but he didn't care. Nothing else was important.
He slowed when he reached the club, caught his breath, and went on inside. "Grey?" he called softly, before he entered properly and saw how beautiful it was. This was the surprise? "Oh my God, Grey- you did this for me?" he asked, closing the space between them with some urgency and placing a firm kiss against her lips. "This is incredible. I love you."
