"It's a surprise," she reminded him, her heart pounding in her chest, she was sure she'd never more nervous or excited in her whole life.
In the booth she opened the ring box, looking at the ring inside. It was a beautiful ring, unusual, not too plain but not too much either, the question was - was it perfect? Because he deserved perfect. If he didn't like it she'd find him another, she'd find him a hundred rings if that was he wanted.
Closing the box again she hid it behind her back and went back over to him. She hadn't really planned anything to say, she probably should have, she realised now, because sometimes when she looked at him she forgot words and it was very important she manage to tell him just how much she loved him. Pausing for a second she kissed him tenderly, should she get down on one knee? God she really hadn't worked his out well at all. It wasn't going to be perfect at all!
Finally she produced the open box, her eyes searching his face for a moment before she began. "You are the most perfect man I've ever met, you're beautiful and intelligent and passionate and I can't believe my luck at having you in my life. I love you more than anything and anyone in the whole world, in the whole universe so...I was wondering if you'd make me the happiest person to ever exist, and agree to be my husband?"
